i am not rich, before you start saying i should buy an xbox.

the facts:
Gearbox refuges to port Halo 2, NOOHH
Bungie wont say anything, yet but the agony is killing me
And because of the Live option for the xbox now it seems hopeless, seems or is it reality??

My plead:
Halo 2 for the pc,please i can make a post at a lenght that is restricted but nobody is going to read it entirely so please bungie dont let my hope for the greatest game ever be invain, the agony is almost killing me, every new shot or screen or video hurts me because of the xbox only!!! PLEASE

trade in ur pc and THEN get an XBOX, i dunno why you would want Gearbox to port it, they did a -blam!- job on Halo 1

  • 05.11.2004 10:03 AM PDT

Have Gearbox refused? They've expressed a desire to work with Microsoft again.

Even if there is going to bea Halo 2 port to Pc, it won;'t be until 2006-2007.

Otherwise, Microsoft's plans to get this game to sell Xboxes will be all for naught

  • 05.11.2004 10:05 AM PDT

bah

You can bet your ass there will eventually be a port to PC and maybe even Mac again (less certain about the Mac). Microsoft won't goof it up. When it comes to good business, can you name one company better at it that Microsoft?

honestly i have to say. when you can get a brand new xbox for 149, or go to ebay and get a brand new one or used one for like 100 dollars. thats the price of 2 pc games. just get an xbox. doesnt make a whole lot of sense not too. what the heck are you thinking. just buy one.

seriously though, you've got 2 kidneys right? well, you only really need one so...lose the kidney, and get an xbox. and a live membership. and preorder the limited edition HALO2. and if you have any money left over, then go ahead and buy some antibiotic or some tylenol or something.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the whole idea of having it exclusive for ages to try and beef up sales of the Xbox? It is the killer game after all. Personally I'd prefer the Xbox version any day but I do sypathise with the PC gamers.

halo 1 is orginally meant for the pc so it would be weird if halo 2 would mis it

  • 05.12.2004 5:29 AM PDT

Ding Ding!

Well, yes, Halo 1 was considered for the PC, but Halo 2 has always been an Xbox game.

halo 2 is going on the xbox, but missing the pc would be weird and it would only come after a half year they released it for the xbox *sigh*, but it comes!

Apox, you really should just buy an xbox... ok, it's 200 EUR, but then it comes with a game and 2 controllers. A halo and PGR2 pack is currently on the market (in Belgium, so I bet it's also available in the Netherlands, and if not, you can still buy it in Belgium, it's not that far away...) Other packs are available too, like SC:PT and stuff...
But just an xbox only costs about 150 EUR, and Halo costs about 30 EUR... Ok, that's still quite expensive on itself, but you get much in return... And Live is an option, you can enjoy Halo and every other game, and you will be able to enjoy Halo 2, even without Live... I don't have Live either, and I've enjoyed every single game at it's fullest up until now...
The beatiful thing is, Halo 2 is going to rock offline as well as online. Especially offline, as the graphics are better offline, the enemies are more varied and there's a story line.

BTW, I highly doubt the port on pc (if there is going to be one) will have anything near the quality of the original (xbox) version.

the quality will only be better (pc version) because the pc has huge capability hardware, the xbox is from 2001 or something like it so a bit aged, i think they will port but they wont say anything until the week before the release and that will be after a year or later.

Rip Saw:
Bungie won't port a game to PC and neglect the Mac. They would disillusion their oldest fans YET AGAIN if they did, and it'd be worse than before. That would show a direct preference for the PC over the Mac, and Bungie has always taken a neutral stance on Platform Bigotry since Marathon 2.

And anyway, as Marty O'Donnel recently said in his Q&A database, "Macs are best".

A port to PC is unlikely IMHO. Yes, Halo 1 was originally a PC game, but Halo 2 has been Xbox all the way. Porting Halo 2 would be a very time consuming process of basically re-building diferent technical aspects of the game to make them compatible with PC's. Also because PC's have non-uniform hardware, that will make it even more dificult for certain things (e.g. Active Camo in Halo PC). Don't underestimate the Xbox because it is a few years old. It's the most powerful console around, and unlike a PC, it doesn't have to push an OS while running a game. It doesn't have to keep the print spooler up or keep explorer.exe running, so its free to focus on its task, playing games.

Gearbox hasn't refused to do it BTW, they just can't do it because they don't have a contract with Microsoft and Bungie to do it, yet.

Oh, and any company owned by Microsoft does have a clear platform preference, its called Microsoft Windows.

  • 05.12.2004 8:38 AM PDT

I am saying that if there is a PC port, there will be a Mac port. More than that, I have no idea.

And venom, MS has little say over what platforms Bungie develops for (other than being primarily for Xbox). Bungie is an independent studio within MS.
