Poll: Do you want Halo: Reach declared non-canon?  [closed]
Yes, I want Reach declared non-canon.:  42%
(11 Votes)
No, I want Reach to remain canon.:  58%
(15 Votes)
Total Votes: 26

Straight forward question. Would you prefer if we treated Reach as if it where non-canon? This includes everything that Reach brought to the table (data pads, Noble, Sabre etc.).

Edited the question.
Just to clear anything up, this is not a petition to get 343i to declare Reach non-canon.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

I vote to keep it canon. However, I'm not above with labeling it non-canon if the "The events of Halo: Reach are actually ONI propaganda." theory is used.

Keep it Canon. It shows that the UNSC went down with a fight during the Battle of Reach and lasted a full week before falling to the might of the Covenant armada. Considering Earth lasted over a month.

I voted to keep it canon, because while the storyline does break canon rather badly, the Data pads are a great adition to the backstory.

Ugh, these threads again?
Question, could you point out where you saw a thread similar to this? Because I sure haven't lately.

Oh not lately, but a good while back there was a large amount of these threads if I remember correctly.

Ah. Thank you.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

I understand how many times Reach has conflicted with pre established canon. I also understand why some would officially want it removed as canon. But we can't just throw these things out the window because we don't like them. People just can't chip up and take apart pieces of official Halo merchandise because they don't like it. I can't just say, "I didn't like Halo 2. It never happened!". It doesn't work like that.

Except the Star Wars prequels. THEY AREN'T CANON.

Yes. Not because it retconned "my precious book", but because it's a bad game. I'd laugh my ass off.

I completely forgot about those. Yes, keep them.

In my opinion, this Halo: Reach stands on between of non-canon and canon. I would say to keep canon for some purposes such as datapad and Spartan-IIIs only. Not-Canon part would apply to PoA being in atmosphere, "farmland" colony which it was supposed to be heavily militarized colony planet, supercarrier somehow sneaks in, despite giving off massive thermal signatures, inconsistencies with timeline, etc.

That will never happen. 343 rendering Reach non-canon would make the 4 million copies (estimate) around the world worth nothing. Don't forget that Bungie was in charge and they had the right to overide any book. And they didn't even overide the book. It takes a little thinking to combine the two.
Normally I won't suggest using Halopedia too often but I felt the timeline they did on the Fall of Reach combined the stories almost seemlessly. And they did not write BS either.

Do you realize that Bungie already did override the books by the games?

Look at their canon policy, they stated that game canon trumps the book canon, by the way, it's stupid way to put it. (My opinion, is that books should be considered equal to game canon, no other side is above of other side)

Perhaps I should rephrase my question. I was asking if the Universe would be happier if we treated it as non-canon. This was not a petition to ask 343i to declare Reach non-canon and I apologize if I gave it that impression.
