In my opinion, this Halo: Reach stands on between of non-canon and canon. I would say to keep canon for some purposes such as datapad and Spartan-IIIs only. Not-Canon part would apply to PoA being in atmosphere, "farmland" colony which it was supposed to be heavily militarized colony planet, supercarrier somehow sneaks in, despite giving off massive thermal signatures, inconsistencies with timeline, etc.

That will never happen. 343 rendering Reach non-canon would make the 4 million copies (estimate) around the world worth nothing. Don't forget that Bungie was in charge and they had the right to overide any book. And they didn't even overide the book. It takes a little thinking to combine the two.
Normally I won't suggest using Halopedia too often but I felt the timeline they did on the Fall of Reach combined the stories almost seemlessly. And they did not write BS either.
Do you realize that Bungie already did override the books by the games?
Look at their canon policy, they stated that game canon trumps the book canon, by the way, it's stupid way to put it. (My opinion, is that books should be considered equal to game canon, no other side is above of other side)
