Looks nice.

Looks pretty good.
I guess I'm buying another book with the same information as the last, just with a few updated pages.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

The info on The Flood page is wrong. Humanity originally discovered the Flood aboard those ancient vessels in the Magellanic Clouds, not the Forerunners. I hope the new info from Cryptum is taken into account...

Epsilon Eridani Fleet
The Savannah, like the many other ships in its fleet, was charged with the safety of the colonies in the Epsilon Eridani system. This included the planets Reach, Tribute, Circumstance and a number of smaller Human outposts.

So where was this fleet in Reach?

We asked Bungie and this was their contextual response.

Paris class frigate? Interesting.

*Going to be shot for this* But offscreen anton :P.

I wonder if they will expand the frigate into different classes and explain the differences?

God, they're still making more Halo books? I guess I have nobody to blame but you guys, they wouldn't make this -blam!- if people didn't buy it.

This.

Also, why does it ignore that the scarab shown in the pick is the v2 model, the halo enyclodpeda explained that the v1 (seen in halo 2) is a mining platform, the v2 is a battle platform.

My bet is that it's another careless typo much like the ones seen throughout the first encyclopedia. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more throughout this new version. That said, I also wouldn't be surprised if they released another pricy edition with a slight few new pages shortly after the release of Halo 4.

Edit: To clarify, I'm mainly talking about the Halo encyclopedia itself already getting its own revision rather than the visual guide in the OP. Still seems that in both cases though they have their share of conflicting or simple careless typos that will probably be fixed by a newer edition. Case in point being the newer Halo Encyclopedia.

This makes me worry that they will be re-released when H4 comes out...
How much money will I have to spend before they come up with the "definitive" edition?

None if you just wait it out long enough. I mean jeez, what seemed like almost immediately after it came out it was announced that a new edition of the Halo Encyclopedia would be made. Course they made the very slightly smart move to wait it out so they could add at least a little bit of newer information in addition to the typo fixes. Then there was the reissued The Fall of Reach which was out only for a few months before they decided they needed yet another reissued edition just to slap on the "Definitive Edition" label. No doubt the reissued "The Flood" will get the same treatment as well to be uniform with the rest.

Well it isn't necessarily incorrect. You could interpret as meaning the Forerunners as a species discovered the Flood then. Humans discovered the Flood thousands of years earlier. And I doubt even humans were the first to discover the Flood. I imagine they consumed the sentient life in whatever galaxy they came from.

The flood came to the galaxy in a powder, they weren't even "the flood" at that point.

And the forerunners were aware of humanity fighting (and curing) the flood as well as the flood leaving and coming back.

the back is old canon, and i know i am going to be correcting people for another 4 years because of all of this crap.

Sigh... I'm just in denial that the Halo franchise has been left in the hands of what has come across so far as a very lazy and incompetent studio.

Oh well. I pre-ordered with a gift card anyway. Hopefully they didn't screw up too badly. And I'm a little skeptical of how much they can really cram into 208 pages considering the Encyclopedia was over 300 pages long. Though unlike the Encyclopedia it does seem to actually include a bit of new info (that they didn't lift from Halopedia).

And you try to refute my claims that you're a ridiculously huge geek...

:P

Stuff like this always seems pointless to me as they just use assets from the games for the most part and recycle information that could easily be found online.

I don't think it's that bad? At least they didn't stick with this.
