I like Halo 1 myself. To me it is simply a much cleaner and more polished game. Everything works as intended. Also, the aspect ratio is much better in Halo 1. Me and a buddy can play split screen without getting that dissoriented, turned around feeling anytime we are near a wall or object. Hell, I get that feeling when playing by myself everytime I go to melee someone. So, we can't play Halo 2 together like we did with Halo 1. That in itself was a major factor for not liking Halo 2.
Another huge drawback for Halo 2 are the playlists. I want to be able to play what I want, when I want. I'm not too keen on objective games. If they had a team slayer list with nothing but battle rifle starts, I would enjoy the game more. That's simply how I like to play. Having to sit through game after game of something I don't feel like playing gets really old. My friends feel the same way. We like an objective game from time to time, when we feel like it....but we mostly enjoy TS with a decent starting weapon. The other day I tried playing Team Hardcore and got 10 objective games in a row. I never did get a TS game.
Other things that seem obvious...like weapons and melee's being consistant. These are things I'm sure Bungie are well aware of, so I won't replay them here. The other two things I talked about aren't as obvious, and I don't hear others talking about.
