Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

I agree with everything you said except.... how did you forget about the vehicles? Destructible vehicles add a more tactical element to the game. Whereas before you would ram that SOB into the ground, now you have to try to not have your ride blow up and try to avoid lock-on rockets. Not to mention vehicle-boarding also reduces vehicle superiority, hence balancing the game (a bit)
YES. Halo 1 needs more skill. But the gap between the two games is not as big as you seem to think.

I disregarded vehicles because it's a general consensus that vehicles are a contrast to a competitive environment regardless of which Halo game you're playing, instead focusing on the aspects of each game that would still remain in a competitive setting.

And I've said somewhere, either in this thread or the other one, that destructible vehicles were the only real improvement from HCE.

Big disagree about the skill gap not being massive between the two games. In my experience, H2/3/R players who attempt to play CE generally have no idea how to aim or strafe properly, instead attempting to AR rush you or throw all of their nades in a single fight.

/agree with OP

Would like to comment that in Halo 2, unless you're playing the MLG gametype, you will nearly always be looking to upgrade the weapons you are holding. In contrast to this in Halo PC/CE, if you know how to use the pistol, it is nearly always kept on you the entire duration of the game, supplemented by heavy weapons or the sniper.

Elaborate. I have a theory as to why you think that, but I wanna hear it from you first.
