I'd like to ask something on a related note. After being bored one day and looking up the names of the mods in the name search thingy, I found several accounts that were past their expiration date. Judging from their names, I assumed they had all been permabanned, but I'm not quite sure why their accounts haven't been deleted yet.

Is there a feature that allows members who have been permanently blacklisted that will not delete the account until the blacklist expires?

It just seemed a little odd.

You shouldn't worry about storage space. Storage space is cheap. The forums database is about 5 or 6 gigabytes, and the portal (content/account) database is slightly smaller. Both combined are still dwarfed by the gigantic database that hold the stats data.

It seems to me that deleting 25 posts in a group in one thread would be a hard thing to do.

Part 1. Have you even been to The Flood?

Part 2. We'd all love to say that. And it would be a natural and correct response, in this instance. However, as a legal precedent, it would be harmful and lead to abuse in the hands of others.

That's why I said in a group. The activity level in a group is reduced so the likely that 25 posts would get deleted is pretty low. Groups are also a much smaller target for spam.

Another good point.

So all the posts in all the forums are less than 6GB in space? That's about 8 movies worth of space. -__-
I was thinking the servers needed would be in TeraBytes...

yea text is small, but still, think about how much text has been used on the forums. there must be a bajillion pages of posts and a zillion topics (give or take a few.) basically, theres a ton of content on here, and unless it's compressed, it just doesn't seem like it would all fit in 6 gigabytes.

I'm not that active, but never dead.

Ever seen the grey webmasters beside your topics in a group? That means it has been archived and compressed. I think. That saves up on dataspace.

Also, remember that the servers only have to hold the topics from the last year or so, not all the way back to 1994.

Closer to two movies =\

And I imagine Achronos would know what he's talking about. He does, after all, run the site =P

Two?? I get them to about 700Mb a piece.

Anyway, that really isn't a lot. How much can you compress text?
