Have you tried running as an administrator? Furthermore, what laptop is this being played on? I think the i5 has an integrated graphics card (someone feel free to correct me if im wrong) which Halo 2 detects first and refuses to run. If this is the case, then Halo 2 will not run at all. The 310m isn't a too powerful card either, it's better than my G105m in my laptop but it's okay for a laptop. Im going to look into it for you and find out what i can.

there is a intel integrated graphics card in there..., though i made it so that when i ran it, it runs with the 310m

Then unfortunately, i do not think Halo 2 will ever work on the laptop. There was similar issue with another user who bought an alienware laptop that had a G540m which also had an integrated. Halo 2 Vista regardless of whether you select the proper graphics card, will always detect the integrated and refuse to run. M$ didn't have an answer either, from what i remember.

You may be experiencing a different problem altogether but im fairly certain that is the problem im afraid.

You bought it off E-bay and then downloaded it? That sounds fishy. Did you get a license key?
