I'll give my list. It should be said, though, that I could probably make and remake this list a dozen times with it being different each time because there are so many great moments.
10. Coastal Highway - Halo 3: ODST - This level is great to me. When driving down the highway and seeing cruisers everywhere with massive formations of banshees I feel like New Mombassa is being destroyed. Add in the carrier glassing the city and it's the icing on the cake.
9. Exodus - Halo: Reach - Exodus and New Alexandria were the missions in the game where I felt like the UNSC was being destroyed. I choose the falcon ride near the end of the mission where you see skirmishes between UNSC and Covenant taking place along the buildings of New Alexandria. When the transport goes down in the sea I was horrified. This part just gave me an emotional response and I enjoy watching the scene every time.
8. The Silent Cartographer - Halo: CE - Nothing ever gets old about storming out of the pelicans with a bunch of marines and blasting the Covenant. The action was intense, and I can't wait for CEA to play that moment in HD.
7. The end of Floodgate/arrival of the Elites - Halo 3 - The exchange between Master Chief and Lord Hood is memorable to me as Hood states: "This is either the best decision you've ever made or the worst. Hell, if it is Chief, I doubt I'll live long enough to find out which." The introduction of Rtas is great, and the scene of Marines and Elites sitting there as the Arbiter and Johnson walk by carrying weapons is epic.
6. Halo - Halo: CE - This speaks for itself. The first time you ever get to fight on the surface of Halo. At the time, the graphics were epic and you really felt like you were starting a guerrilla war on a mysterious alien world.
5. 343 Guilty Spark - Halo: CE - The introduction of the Flood. That cutscene was epic, and I know I was freaked out when I watched it.
4. Tartarus and the Arbiter - The Great Journey, Halo 2 - This scene was absolutely awesome in my opinion as the Arbiter revealed the lies of Truth to Tartarus who, of course, refused to believe him. I felt like everything was really coming to a head and I couldn't wait to find out what happened next.
3. Leaving Cortana and the end of Halo 2 - Chief: "After I'm through with Truth..." Cortana: "Don't make a girl a promise, if you know you can't keep it." This quote stuck with me immediately, as it was easily one of the most emotionally striking moment of the Halo series. The moment opened so many questions, yet neglected to answer them. I was torn. Then of course, we get the "Sir. Finishing this fight" quote.
2. The end of Truth and joining forces (temporarily) with the Flood - Halo 3 - After Miranda Keyes was killed and the array was activated I knew the Chief was going to somehow get there. When flood forms appeared in front and the Gravemind says "Do not shoot, but listen. Let me lead you safely to our foe." I love that quote. Then the Arbiter exacts his revenge and I feel like some things are finally being resolved. In fact, the entire final fight against the Scarabs and remaining Covenant forces was incredibly awesome. I felt like a part of a huge battle for one of the few times of the series.
1. The Maw - Halo: CE - The original warthog run was the best and I remember playing this mission as an 11 year old grinning from ear to ear. I had never yet experienced something so epic in my gaming life. This moment remains great to this day. I felt surrounded by Covenant and Flood, and the music is incredible. I feel very confident in declaring this my number one moment of the Halo games.
Honorable mentions:
- Return to High Charity
- Beginning of Halo 3
- Johnson's death
- Keyes death in Halo: CE
- Noble Six's declaration in Halo: Reach that he "had the gun."
- The drop in ODST
- The appearance of High Charity and its enormous fleet near the end of Regret in Halo 2.
- The entire first cutscene of Halo 2
- Chief "giving the Covenant back their bomb."
Any of these could easily be placed in my top ten.
