Are there frames that have glass that will prevent sun days from fading the poster?
Yes you would want to use UV-glass (aka Ultra Violet Glass). It costs more than standard glass though. You also could go with UV-Plexiglass which is a plastic material, lighter than actual glass, and probably cheaper. IF you, or anyone else here, decides to frame something like a print, etc make sure if you have it professionally done to NEVER have it drymounted. When you have something drymounted, it devalues the item considerably. Assuming many of you here who have prints want to frame them, you basically would want to have them loose between the glass (or plexiglass) and the backing of the frame.
Drymounting is the process whereas the framer will place the print or poster on a special styrofoam backing board that has been sprayed down for them to adhere to themselves. It is then placed in a vacuum-like machine which removes any bubbles, etc from the process. The downside of this is that since you have now altered the original print/poster's original state, the item now has lost considerable value.
Also you will want to make sure you use acid-free backing. Standard backing board or matte-board can yellow over the years and ruin your print/poster. Acid-free backing and matte board will have a rough feel to it when you run your hand over it, and be off-white in color. Acidic backing will be whiter in color and have a smooth feel to it.
Lastly if you decide to go with inexpensive frames, you can generally find discount coupons from retailers such as Michaels Arts & Crafts, and Aaron Brothers Framing in your Sunday newspaper ad section.
