Subject: Bungie where's the red flames?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Halo 3's flames weren't set up like Halo: Reach's, as part of the Armory. We would have to force them on and players wouldn't be able to switch them off. Ever.

And...?

And a ton of players would be really angry about it.

*picks up active camo

*gets sniped

*plays team snipers

*hides, gets sniped

I can understand.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

I know you're joking around (I hope so, at least), but let me explain. For one, the flames don't disappear when camouflaged. Snipers, ghosts(Correct name?), etc would all be ruined by the very obnoxious flames.
Second, if the torso was forced onto everybody, people's custom armor sets would be ruined, replaced by the Bungie Sports Bra. The flames aren't there just because. They're attached to a modified EOD torso. So for instance; I just got my Katana chestplate and I'm very excited about it. Then out of nowhere, I get my old unsightly EOD plate with some broken lights. What now? You're stuck with it.
Would you be upset if you were stuck with that torso on forever and not be able to change it?

Yes, and I believe that you could switch it.

I don't see how that works.

Especially after last year.

Just for the record, I think we deserve a response explaining urk's logic here. I think we might either be missing something or he may have just tried to use a lie full of fail.

I wouldn't and I don't think anyone else would. Come on man give it shot. Please?

I don't even play Halo: Reach that often. I prefer Halo 3 over Reach.

No.

If they were to do it, wouldn't it be an even playing field for everyone? With my limited understanding I would only see an issue if only linked gamertags got flames.

Exactly. They were simply tied to a chest piece that when used would show the flames.

Oh Urk, you so naughty.

Imagine a triangle. It's perfect, but a little plain. You take a chisel, and carve a small decorative symbol into it to make it a little more interesting. People like it, but it could use a little more.

So you then take a sledgehammer..

You didn't see my point. If people like the way they have their armor, they will most likely be upset with the way Bungie will "force the armor onto people" by putting the Bungie chestplate on people and not allowing them to remove it.

If you weren't aware, the Bungie Flames are generated by a modified EOD chest.

Watch as bungie claim they 'lost' the keys the modify halo 3 settings, just like they did with halo 2 but were then somehow able to insert funny messages on the last day of xbl v1.

Achilles, I'm feeling your frustration...

The OP is talking about Halo 3, not Reach. Bungie has to unlock the flames in Halo 3 for players to use them, and Urk has already said that it's just not logical. Why question or complain about an older game when we've already been blessed with so much for Bungie's 20th anniversary? (Not to mention that it's theirs, not ours...that's really generous). Not to be a dick, but everyone should just be happy with what they've got, especially flames. They're just pixels, the game plays the same.

And that concludes my semi-yearly rant.

False.

100% false.

The Bungie chest was unlocked on July 7th of last year for one day. You were able to change the chest, the only thing that would not be removed is the "BUNGIE" watermark on the Halo 3 nameplate. That's probably why Bungie doesn't want to give out the chest.

Otherwise the chest itself can be replaced with all the others, even EOD.

The Bungie chest is a second EOD chest right after the Kantana and it is option 9 out of 9 if you unlocked Recon and option 8 out of 8 if you didn't.

The EOD chest is option 6 out of 9.

So it can be used or not used.

How's that different from any other change on the internet? People were upset that the Bungie nameplate was released so now they can't differentiate Bungie employees from people that are simply wearing the Bungie nameplates.

Plus, it wouldn't force the chest plate, it would just force the nameplate. Given there's only 3 nameplates (none, 7th Column, and Bungie Nameplate), I think more people would enjoy getting the Bungie chest plate and forced the Bungie nameplate, than the people that don't get the Bungie armor and the choice between no nameplate and the 7th Column.

Worse comes to worse, people are really pissed. Remove it. You still have 2 weeks to find out.

You have a very good point with the whole nameplate thing as well.
