The Flood Inittive

Before:
* Fun
* Casual
* Smart
* Fun place to hang out.
* Talk about stuff that had meaning
Now:
* Annoying
* Chaotic
* Retared
* Just retarded -blam!- and useless yelling.

The Problems:
* 1a.We need to permaban the retarded spammers'Flooding' the Flood. (no pun intended). There's just to many people complaining and spewing meaningless stuff and too little people there to balance it out.
* 1b. Another side to that is the spammers themselves. They become popular in the community and when they're banned, it leads to a flood of spam I.E) Twitch666's "Save Twitch" campain.
* 2The Flood is made of random, which makes it unique. What made it fun. But when you cross the line from random and spam, that's when you got a problem.
* 3Another problem is the threads that start as spam, then get taken out of porportion. I.E) any shorty thread. We need to stop them before they get out of porportion, because the threads spawn clones and double the spam and -blam!- which then leads to complaing threads. It ends up being a cycle of spam, porportion, clone, complain. They need to be taken out before they grow. Be harsher on the locking

The Solution:
Overall we need another Stosh Return like moment, we need harsher bannings, Threads Deleted, Not locked. We need the rules actually inforced. A real crackdown on all spammers. 7 day bans for all. We need to delete all spam threads. Yes. It is harsh, Yes there will be a period of little activty. But over time, it will repair itself. Now it is a state of downhill deteriation. Don't just lock a thread, delete it. And ban the starter.
We can't just let it sit around and kill itself. It needs to be restored. This is how.

dude, you pulled a jesus!

That's not a bad idea... actually that's what I thought would be a solution, but you expanded on my ideas.

No, it is your opinion of it that has changed. The Flood has always been the same hole of mindless drivel.

The Flood has its problems, but it still is my favorite forum. The Septagon is also a good forum but for different reasons.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

What the hell does "Inittive" mean? Were you trying to say "intiative"?

You contradicted yourself several times there; first we need to permaban spammers, but then you say that's not a good idea because idiots rally around said spammers (like the Save Twitch! campaign). You say that the mods need to be harsher on locking, but then one line down you say that they need to delete instead of lock.

I've been around since before The Flood even existed, and trust me, it hasn't changed all that much. Way back in the beginning it was good (at the very least I remember enjoying posting in there much more, but that may be nostalgia speaking. However, I do know that New Mombasa used to be a lot better.), but really it hasn't declined overall that much. Sure, there are good and bad periods; I don't go in The Flood a whole lot, so I'll take your word for it that this is a bad period, but I'm sure that it will be back to "normal" soon. Eventually people tire of being excessively stupid and move on with their life. It certainly doesn't warrant a special moderator campaign though. Although I do think that B.Net as a whole could definately benefit from enforcing the rules more harshly.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Seems to be the same thing to me every time i go,

50% of the threads are pointless, but have alot of posts and 50% are intellegent and only last a fiew minutes before drowning in other posts.

But THAT IS WHAT THE FLOOD IS FOR.

I have to say, I was a "regular" there from the day the Flood opened untill awhile ago. I was there the day it opened, and, trust me, it has gotten more serious if anything. The old threads would all be something like "Are you wearing pants?" And the poll would include "Cheese, cheddar, donut, poop, your mom"

What the flood needs is the regulars. I know some and somewere apart of the 40 banned by Maka... (Trust me, I don't want that to happen.) I have enjoyed the flood. But the one thing that could bring back the old school is a dam good thread...

I remember the Laser Wars thread. The first one. That one was good, but then they all went downhill. By the end there were guys pretending to be girls and all that weird stuff.

Would that be the time that we had the 25 page quote pyramid flamming one person?
I was a victem of Makas blacklist spree.

Well, I feel pretty stupid looking at that. I was a little under the weather yesturday. The Flood really is the same.

The Flood doesn't really change that much. Its just, as you stay here for longer (as is in other things) your viewpoint of it is what changes. New members see in the Flood what older members saw when they were new.

things come and go

Oh god NO. We dont need stricter mods! Stosh practically killed the Flood on his rampage.

I think the Flood is fine the way it is.

The Flood is how we make it. If we make cool threads and we post on them then it will be fun. If we flame and post a million chuck norris threads, it won't be fun. We have the power to make it better or worse. I would rather seek to improve it than to bemoan its decline.

If you dislike the way the Flood is then tough. If you don't like a thread then don't respond. It's as simple as that.

I liked the flood just after it was made. It was a haven for discussions on technology, cars, sports, films and music aswell as all other non-bungie things. Now it's just a pit of -blam!-e. Get rid of all the meaningless crap i say. More stosh ban-a-thons and less of the pointless posts.
