Subject: My Bungie Aerospace theory - it's not a game engine or an ARG i...

Let's look at it this way. With them leaving Microsoft a few years ago, what is Bungie missing and what is still keeping Bungie tied to Microsoft?

One simple answer, this website and our stats are currently linked to our Microsoft Live IDs. When they were owned by MS, this made perfect sense and no one (or hardly anyone) balked at setting up a LIVE account. I'm not sure when B.net started or when accounts became linked to Live IDs but it makes little sense with this new 10 year deal with Activision. Don't get me wrong, my understanding is that using a Live ID is kind of like using Facebook or Twitter to login to a website - non-MS sites can do it still today (see http://msm.live.com/app/). So they don't have to switch but I can understand why they would want to.

So my theory is that Aerospace is a new social network much like the current Bungie.net and not necessarily replacing it. But it would be a total revamp on what we have now. You know how CoD took the idea of the stats system that Bungie pioneered here and turned it into Elite? This would be much the same. A complete Bungie ecosystem.

Evidences of sorts:
1) You don't sell shirts with the name of your game engine (usually) unless you are giving them away at gaming conventions
2) You don't put the name of your company in the name of your new universe (Aerospace is not the 10 year universe)
3) A knock on my theory - you may want your engine to be held by a separate company to more easily license it. (see Cortana 5's thread - Bungie Aerospace is a separate company)
4) A separate company may allow them to more easily track our gameplay and link us to friends over more than just the new universe's games. I fully believe that Bungie will become a multi-IP studio. In fact, I think someone said that but I do not remember where.
5) Next to the Reach Logo and Halo 3 logo is a number, mine is 22. That's how many of my XBOX LIVE friends are playing XBOX or WINDOWS LIVE games. This is not helpful in anyway in this new world that Bungie is moving toward.
6) They've produced BOTH a great mobile website and a great iOS app. These are precursors so that when they have the new social network ready to go, the mobile versions will be ready too.

I wore my Bungie Aerospace shirt today proudly and can't wait to see what the future holds.

So what do you think??

SonicJohn made two posts (1 & 2) in a general thread about Aerospace along the same lines as you and I have. Plus some people in the Bungie Aerospace group have been thinking this as well.

Note: I wanted to make this one of the first posts on my personal blog but I haven't had time to set it up yet...

They're both triangles. Triangles are associated with the Illuminati. Illuminati controls Bungie

/conspiracy

No. Bungie controlls Illuminati. Remember, Bungie wants to control the world, thus really being the Illuminati, but the CoD franchise is getting in their way of world domination, so they hand over the Halo franchise to 343 so they can continue to please the Halo community and take on Bungie Aerospace, Bungie Aerospace is a cover up for Bungie really making a world-wide space traveling company where they could make billions upon billions of currency, bail out America of its national debt, pay off the other countries, start their own army. Achronos or Urk would then become the President of the United States, where then their space company would then take off, charging people from other countries trillions to go into space and travel far away from us, while the countries are away they will play and take over the world with their newly founded army, thus taking over the world as they planned from the very beginning.

People who would td;dr this, please take time to read. It is well worth it.

EDIT: I know there are grammar errors, please try not to Grammar -blam!- me, I just wanted to get that out ASAP before Bungie finds out that I found out their plan.

Cortana 5 is a carbon-based lifeform that frequently visits these forums, currently residing in the United States. Practically every male on the site responds to her posts.

The Joyeuse IP Formula

For 3 and 4, Bungie Aerospace is a separate company.

I do like this idea, actually. An entire sophisticated system linking IPs, platforms, stats, and friends.

Yes. Both are registered in Washington state and Harold Ryan is on the list of owner/managers/whatever for Bungie Aerospace Corp. I'm assuming that this is just for legal reasons; I highly doubt that splitting up the company again will bode well with Jason Jones.

Yes there is. I first learned about it from Cortana5's post a month or so ago. Sorry I treated it as a fact and didn't explain. Let me edit in that link to your thread.

Oh I'm sure that they would never split the company. That's just really interesting. I'm more intrigued than ever for this.

The name of the game is

Bungie Aerospace?

I don't think so.

Also an update said:

"After Bungie Day we'll be going as dark as we've ever been. No Halo news and no Weekly Updates. Not a peep about our next project (though Aerospace, whatever it is, is now all systems go and counting down to launch) for a good, long while."

I believe a proper reading of that makes Aerospace very much separate from "our next project".

2/15/12: Francisco Porras, I'll miss you. Rest in Peace.

It's definitely possible but I'll be really disappointed if it is a social network styled site.

Can you link me to it Alex? Makes sense people would have thought of it earlier (but hopefully I laid out my case for a full social system that stats are but one part of). I swear I try searching these forums and get stuff totally unrelated to what I want. Or an awesome post like Cortana's. But I didn't see anyone guessing this.

New theory: Aerospace is a google-ish search engine for B.Net forums ;)

But why? If anyone has proved that they have the chops to pull off something like that, It's Bungie.

Ah. I will have to find the thread in in the main forums...

This group has some epic theories. One being the stats website.

A good theory.

So why are they hiring for the PS3 then? Do you think they are making a new game in addition to the Aerospace project?

Their next universe is multiplatform. They won't be announcing what it is for quite some time though (Urk said they are "going dark" after Bungie day)

Aerospace on the other hand is something else that they can and will talk about between now and Bungie day. My theory (and apparently some others in the Aerospace group Alex mentioned) is that it is a social network for Bungie fans, part of which will be a new stats site. It may or may not replace all of the current B.net functionality.

Yes. Exactly that.

Aerospace will a special website for the upcoming IP.

  • 06.23.2011 9:57 PM PDT

True but my theory is a bit more specific:
- Bungie will be a multi-IP company soon
- Aerospace will represent the new Activision universe and any other new titles they decide to make. This new company has no direct relationship with Activision and that may help facilitate combining stats and social interactions across IPs.

Your welcome, you should be happy that I visited your thread.

PS. Heres my post in the other thread:

Bungie Aerospace is classified as a project... So it is probably a new website becuase this one is all about Halo. Because they are severing their ties with Microsoft and the Halo series (plus in the future they are going to start developing a PS3 fanbase) they will probably be beginning a new website. (Or completely revamping the current one)

Oh and just so you know I just overreacted about you not finding my other post. Don't take it personally I just don't like how other people on these forums can't spell, read, or form sentences using basic grammar.

If the code that was emailed to me at the end of work yesterday works when I test it today (Friday), then I will be happy. :)

I guess you could say I'm thankful (seriously) you visited and pointed out your post. Since it was not a thread I would not have found it but it sounds like your reasoning is similar to mine. Can't wait!

Yeah I like this. Since 2007 Bungie has been trying to make this site about more than Halo but I'm not sure they succeeded. The history section of the company is quite deep, the slides and such of talks they've given, etc are really interesting. But you are right it has been too Halo and Microsoft centric for too long. Thanks!
