I feel bad for people who missed out, but you can't blame anybody but yourself.
Lets look at some facts:
Everyone knew the festivities started on the 23rd, so in all likelihood the bags would become available on the 23rd. And it doesn't take a genius to think that they'll likely be putting them up on the store shortly after they get to work on the 23rd.
That's what happened. The bags went up shortly after 9am PST on the 23rd.
Urk has said that every bag will be different. He also said we can buy as many as we like to maximise our chances of getting the coolest swag.
Since the swag bags were announced I've visited the store every few hours to check for updates. Yesterday lunchtime (UK time, I think it was like 3am PST) I visited the store and there was a tab that said "20th Anniversary", but there was no stuff in it.
I then visited the forum to see that the stuff had actually been up for a couple of minutes (although couldn't be bought) and then taken down again. Me and about 100 other Bnetters then spent the next 5 or 6 hours on the store page hitting F5.
When the bags came up I bought 4, I also had to pay $70 shipping to the UK.
Just read that for a second, look at the lengths I went to in order to secure myself a swag bag. You can't come on here hours later and -blam!- and whine that it's not fair. If you wanted one you could have had one. I'm not buying these for profit or resale value, I'm buying them because I love Bungie and I love Halo and I want as much memorabilia as possible.
For the record, they were on the store for just over an hour before Bungie pulled them. People had found a method using Amazon to work out how many were left and a best guess would suggest there is less than 150 bags left for when Bungie put them back up.
Ok, but some of us have things to do throughout the day rather than sitting at home pushing F5 repeatedly. I got home an hour after they were put up and they were already out. Had I been aware I would have had to be that vigilant I would have locked all my doors, shut off my phone, and sat on my ass all day, but I cant because I have a life occasionally. No excuse.
Several people had somebody at home (mom, dad, sibling) buy it for them.
I bought a couple for 2 friends who were both unable to buy it at that exact time.
I have the Amazon login info for another friend, he wants me to buy it as soon as they go up again.
Also, they were up for an hour and fifteen minutes.
Also, using the "I have a life" excuse is a little ironic considering you're whining about not getting halo swag from bungie.
I called in sick to work today (I don't care, I'm quitting soon anyways) and I pulled an all-nighter. I mashed the F5 for a good 5 hours.
