Don't hate the player, learn by them.

I'm going to ask a question. How many of you have clicked a link given out by people on the bungie.net forums, and then have it be the homepage of a virus invested, -blam!- site?

Just happened to me. Had to completely kill firefox and re-download it.

So just a suggestion to Bungie, can you please make links to other parts of bungie.net and youtube a different colour when the url is hidden? Because I mean, that thing I went to asked me to like on facebook so now I'm seriously freaking out its got my facey, (though through my burn control I've changed my password.) so please do something to combat this issue.

Also, the community who aren't scarey trolls, be careful about what you click.

Edit: I've got Norton, sometimes it fails at the best of times.

Hover over links before you click on them and look at the bottom of your screen for the address to be displayed. If you don't know where it's taking you, don't click. Doesn't matter what it is--if it isn't a site you recognize don't go on it regardless of whatever curious bones you have in your body.

You can install extensions on your browser to preview the link's address, but for the most part you have to do the screening yourself.

It's not that hard. You don't eat everything you're fed.

I know I may sound heartless, but I honestly think the web team could spend their time doing more productive things. Yes, this is a problem, but there are tons of ways to prevent things like this from happening. FireFox has a few plugins you can install that would allow you to preview where these links are taking you, etc, etc.

Practice safe browsing children. I do, and I've never had a problem before.

Yeah, I got this thing called WOT, web of trust. It generally kicks in to stop stuff like that but obviously it was a new site so didn't work. Also surprised Norton didn't kick in either.

Will use your hovering advice next time though.

True, I'd much more prefer a game ad on then this, but you know. Just creating a tad of awareness.

I Have fully updated Norton Internet Security 2011 running. I click whatever links I want without fear. I've been using Norton since 2007 and still haven't gotten infected.

It's called a fire wall, buy one :)

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

No matter how much I think about it, I still can't understand your reasoning on this Rollin. Surely it wouldn't add too much work to throw in an optional redirecting page and a white/black list that is updated by the Master Mods.

OP, for the time being your browsing is on your own shoulders when on this website, or any website for that matter. Just remember that this is the internet, and not many people are going to be willing to help guide you along safely. Hopefully though, one day we won't have to worry about such things, on this website at least.

Edit: Also, I'd suggest internet security if you want to browse with slackerness and not attentiveness, like myself. I use K9 Internet Security, and it blocks pretty much anything and everything unless I OK it. Plus, it's free.
