I get angry and generalize about the game. My experience is, poor frame rate, malfunctioning mouse control, inability to join any online games. Add to that the product key that expires with no warning, and the fake requirement for Vista when the game doesn't require any of the facilities of Vista and can run on XP with a small hack. My biggest problem with H2V is the obvious manipulation. Halo is a big name, and half a dozen inept programmers cobbled together a cheap port specifically to con people into buying Vista, which was doing poorly in sales.
Short version: The Windows version of Halo 2 was born from evil intentions, is unsupported by the proprietor, stops working without warning after a few installations, and runs like dirt on a system that gets respectable frame rates on even current games.
^truth. But imo h2v is still better because of netcode
Decent opinion until:

and gfwl support.
GfWL broke stuff in the game. Good support, amirite?
However, GFWL support is nice to have if you already play on Xbox Live. Why bother having multiple services like Xbox Live, Steam, PSN, Nintendo Wi-Fi, Game Center, OnLive, Gamespy, etc when you can all have it in one service with all the features you need.
Admittedly, GFWL is flawed in many areas and is hardly ever updated by Microsoft. However, the idea is good and if Microsoft can bring it up to par with Xbox Live, then future GFWL games will be much better. Microsoft is pushing Live-integration onto many platforms. Obviously the Xbox and PC, but now the phone as well.
You see, despite the flaws of GFWL, I still much prefer it over Gamespy servers in Halo 1 PC. There was no voice chat, no friends list, no private messaging, and no game invites. The multiplayer aspect of Halo 1 PC was very limited compared to the offerings of GFWL. I know there's programs like xFire or TeamSpeak that can replace GFWL. But it's very inefficient to have to install seperate 3rd party programs just to have those features. And I know you like it when things are efficient.
