Im reading The fall of Reach and when Cortana is reading Master Chief's files they mention a flash clone replacement for a Oni black op mission. Did I misunderstand something? Also whats a flash clone. Thanks.

If I remember right, the flash clone is a replacement for Master Chief when he was a kid, so his parents wouldn't notice that he was abducted for the Spartan-II program.
And the flash clone is a regular clone, just that the process of making it is way faster than a regular clone, or at least that's what I think.
I hope this helps you.

"WHOOO!!! YOU KNOW HE DEAD!" - Chris Tucker, Rush Hour 2 (in reference to MC's flash clone)

Either died by the Covenant invasion or died by Infection.

I remember I read somewhere (maybe Dr Catherine journal) that the clones died because the speed up process made them "unstable", they had congenital defects like parkinson syndrome, dementia, schizophrenia and brain cancers, and that the average life span was of 14 weeks.

Just like the number of licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop, the world may never know...except Bungie.

When the children were taken by ONI for the SPARTAN-II project, ONI left a flash clone in their place as to not arouse suspicion. It would die weeks(?) later of "natural causes."

Not as crazy as what happened when they finally received their augmentations but that's for another time and thread.

I think most of the sparten flash clones died of medical reasons a few years after the program started becouse they were either not designed to last long or that flash clones don't live very long anyway.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

Not only this, but flash clones have this little problem of getting sick and dying off rather quickly.

I think the chief's would-be wife/girlfriend said in palace hotel that he(flash clone) died

When I read that, I felt sick. For 6 years your child is nearly perfect and healthy. 14 weeks later he's dead.

In time, the tru7h will be revealed.

all of the spartan children were cloned when they were taken into the program. the clones replaced the kids so parents weren't suspicious.

a flash clone is a quick clone of someone that will usually, but not always, become unstable in a matter of weeks and die of medical defects.
Flash Clone

also, isn't there something in legends or something else where some spartans get away and go back to their families and find their clones in their places?

Yes, in Halo: Legends there's a story about that, 4 Spartans ran away from the facilities to return to their "normal lives" and found their clones, after making contact with their clones two of them committed suicide, other was captured and returned to the program and the last one became a marine.

Somehow, I feel more bad for the child soldiers, whose lives were ripped away from them to make the 'perfect soldier'.

But no, yeah, the parents had it rough.

I think in Fall of Reach it says that most of the spartans didn't even care they were ripped from their homes.

But yea, the parents.....wait till they find out their child died a horrible death on Reach instead!!
