"Time was your ally human. But now it has abandoned you. The Forerunners....have returned. And this tomb... is now yours". - The Didact

Chief dealt with a warp up,covies and innies.

It's time for the ancients role

No need, it is perfectly fine as it is. 343 could come up with something different, they do have fantasy after all and they are using it...

The ending to H3 left people with so many questions that it HAD to be carried on and i think at the end of this trilogy MC will die in an awesome cutscene just like noble 6 did.

I'm sorry sir, but I have to disagree. It didn't have to be continued. The open ending was a good solution to "killing off Chief". Think about it: Chief and Cortana are flying in space, lost, they might land on a planet and kick ass.
But well not knowing what happened to him and being able to guess... well that's awesome, right?

I honestly dont know why they called it halo 4. Its so cliche and i dont see what its gonna have to do with the events of the first 3 games. Should have subtitled it instead like Halo: The Forerunner or whatever.

I hope deep down my heart that 343 will subtitle it anyhow. Halo 4,5,6 sounds scary. And it's not even Halo 7! And with Reach and ODST it will be 8 games! I swear to God, if they plan on really naming it Halo 4 - they should make a tetralogy instead!

But the idea of Halo 4 being a bit like Marathon... mmmmmmmm[/quote

There will be zero similarities between Halo 4 and Marathon. For the last time ,343 is making Halo 4 and Marathon is Bungies game, why else do you think the marathon symbol is absent from the newest Halo products.

The story should be continued, you realise Bungie were planning to make a Halo 4 instead of Reach?Mendicant Bias sended the Chief somewhere for somthing we have no idea.Cryptum and the terminals have already hinted alot what the future might hold .

  • 06.24.2011 6:11 AM PDT

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

The Human-Covenant War may be over, but the universe is certainly not finished. Mendicant Bias has plans for the Chief.

Rtas 'Vadamee

The Covenant was defeated in 2559, 6 years after Halo 3.
The Flood is still out there and will strike again.
The Brutes are still fighting against the Sangheili
The Precursors (the makers of the Flood might be the ancient evil thet MC must face)
The fight is not over yet.

  • 06.24.2011 6:48 AM PDT

@Everyone saying the ending to H3 was good:

1) "Like water I ebb and flow; defeat is simply an addition of time, A sentence to a fate I never deserved but you....imposed."

--Gravemind, last level of Halo 3

2) "And so here, at the end of my life
I do once again betray a former
master. The path ahead is fraught
with peril. But I will do all I can
to keep it stable - keep you safe.
I'm not so foolish to think this
will absolve me of my sins. One life
hardly balances billions.

But I would have my masters know
that I have changed.

And you shall be my example."

--Medicant Bias, last level of Halo 3.

3) The entire Legendary ending

4) The entire existence of the Precursors.

5) We have yet to inherit the Forerunners belongings or Mantle.

6) From the Office of Dr. William Arthur Iqbal

7) The ending of The Return

8) Admiral Cole's unknown fate

9) The as of yet unknown existence of the Ancient Human race.

10) The Assembly

11) Iris

All of these things seem to suggest something more is going on behind the scenes then just a power hungery Prophet and a...hungry space zombie.

And all of you are content to sit by and have none of these questions, none of these loose ends, answered? Why else do you think Dr. Iqbal's letter was published in the Evolutions book, yet went completely unnoticed in the glossary section? Why was it left so mysterious?

Or why were (allegedly) human ruins shown in Legends and then later talked about in the aforementioned letter if not to be further expanded upon?

Why is it so many of the Evolutions stories were left ambiguous? The Return, The Impossible Life, and From the Office?

Or, why would Bungie introduce the Assembly? You do know they planned to do Halo 4 before doing Reach? But they didn't want to open doors they couldn't close. So instead, perhaps they gave us one small piece of the puzzel, in order to set us up for a project they knew 343 was working on: Halo 4.

It just seemed obvious to me that 343 was setting us up for something, and that something is Halo 4, the start of what may well be the last trilogy in the Halo series, that will answer all the questions.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

William Arthur Iqbal letter was also a nod to cryptum since we all now know those ruins are human

With all the people saying that the Halo story can't possibly carry on...I think Chief and Cortana's dialogue at the end of CE accurately sums this up.

"We did what we had to do...for Earth, an entire Covenant armada obliterated, and the Flood...we had no choice. Halo...it's finished."
"No...I think we're just getting started."

There is a great deal more to the Halo universe and many more untold stories to tell that need to come to light. Especially now that we have the Forerunner Trilogy, several of the short stories in Halo Evolutions, and the Glasslands Trilogy by Karen Traviss taking place in the aftermath of Halo 3. There is so much more that needs to be elaborated on and revealed to us.

Okay, I need an answer.

Why continue with this?

The Covenant was beat

Stopped reading there, sorry hateful buddy.

I'll reserve final judgement until the game actually ships, but the teaser trailer did not impress me.

And the game gets a -1 right off the bat for not having Marty involved.

You have won the title of -blam!- of the internet, good sir. With this prestigious recognition, you will be remembered as "that guy who did not contribute to the conversation."

Let me clear it up. I am saying that the story of the Human-Covenant War IS over, the war WAS finished. Now, the Halo universe will never end, its stupid to assume so. Nevertheless, they could have named it something different. Created a new character, started an entire new experience in this fnatastic story but Microsoft just wanted a safety net, Master Chief, to attract sales .

I may seem to come across as a -blam!-, but I'm really just trying to help.

Alot of speculation of Forerunner and return of a more powerful Flood for enemies, but anything could happen. Halo 4 makes it easier to sell than trying to come up with a new catchy name.

When I meet girls at the bars I don't get their numbers, I get their gamertags...

Mark my words...

1. USNC forces are going to be all spread out, unorganized, and fighting each other.
2. This whole thing is taking place on a Forerunner planet.
3. There's going to be a whole new enemy.
4. This Forerunner planet is going to be just epic. And I mean eeeeeeepic.

Quote and hate me if you will.. but in a year or whatever when the game comes out... everyone will be like "omg Eniqizinq was totes rite I owe him a cookie!!!!1!! (::)"

And I'm so sure that I'm 90% rite that I have a $50 bet with one of my pals..

It's sad to see that the trailer didn't get as much of a reaction as the Halo 3 trailer back in 2006.

I still love watching that trailer now. It's simply incredible! Halo 4's trailer is just a bit bland for me. (I like the beginning of it though)

Who the -blam!- says Halo 4 will continue the Human Covenant war. Can't you understand that the H-C war is so small compared to the ongoing conflict in the Halo verse?

Robertos post sums it up i suggest you dive into Halo lore,do some research and then you see.

I agree with you in the sense that the series should've stoped at the end of Halo 3. I mean, how can could you beat that last level?

But the problem was that Master and Cortana are still in space, and everybody thinks they're dead.

It's sad to see that the trailer didn't get as much of a reaction as the Halo 3 trailer back in 2006.

Because we all know it is going to suck. Now that Bungie has left, the age of Halo is circling in the drain, and everybody knows it.

Its kinda funny, because all you stupid blind fanboys fail to realize that 343i IS bungie. They have half of their employees.

I think 343 will do a way better job than Bungie, maybe not better than Halo CE or H2, but they have already suggested fixing Bungies broken game called Reach.

Reach was trash, blind fanboys wake up.

  • 06.25.2011 5:00 AM PDT

Jesus christ! Stop talking about Halo 4, its like 1,5 YEARS til you get to play it. Talk about Halo cea, atleast its 5 months from release.

The trailer didnt get much of a reaction becouse Halo 4 was leaked a few hours before it was to be revealed, everyone there already knew about it.

Per Audacia Ad Astra!

With all respect to 343i Seeing Halo 4 is like watching Universal/Naughty Dog giving Crash Bandicoot rights to Vicarious vision to milk the franchise or Eidos/Core Design making the same with Crystal Dinamics with Tomb Raider, Sonic Team/Sega ruining Sonic with too much games from devellopers who don't understand the concept and trying to add more and more differents stuff (Dimps etc.).
Now we can put Halo in this case,it won't be the first and won't be the last...

I only know 3-4 people from Bungie at 343.

But that doesn't matters much,as long as the rest love Halo with a passion(which they do) and are skilled game developers(which they are) then it's alright.

And so far they did alot of awesome things for us.

Holy Hell! DIdnt you read my previous posts? I have studied the the lore, something big IS going to happen. I am just stating that they should do something to the game to change up the pace, Halo CE was a great shooter when it first came out, Halo 2 simply added dual-wielding but they did change up the story by playing as the Arbiter, Halo 3 didnt do anything revolutionary, ODST was the most expansive by adding a new health system, playing as a slighly weakend character, new weapons, new angle of story telling. Reach didnt do anything, except drive the The Fall of Reach narrative, which had a better story, to the ground. But people saying stuff like "But Medicand Bias has plans for the Chief and stuff" rubs me the wong way because you actually expect me to believe an AI construct purposefully allowed the [i] Forward unto Dawn [i] to be split during the jump so he could cut Cheif off of any contact or help just because of a "greater purpose"? Thats sound a bit too crazy. They just need to attack another angle. And I swear if they bring back the Flood, or make a Super Flood, it will ruin all the sacrifice and death of the first three Halos.
