Welcome to Bungie.net. You have no rights. Play nice.

Just go by that and shutup. Jeez, especially Troll EATER or something.

I must agree with Recon, because he is bringing up a very good point. Erm, its a good point, but its not good, because it happens all the bloody time.

Look, we don't NEED those kind of discussions. Actually, if people would actually listen and give good comments, we would probably be able to. But since we have about 30920340983209433 jerks on this site, that will never come true.

Now look what you've done, turned this topic into spam.

*waits for mod to lock* sorry, but its going to happen.

It's called the supression of freedom of speech.

Welcome to Bungie.net. You have no rights. Play nice.

Another reason why Socialism is better then what ever form of government is really in place in this country. Anyway. This topic was more or less a complaint topic about people who irritate you. So you are really contradicting yourself.

...And because he is a Mod. And Reiginko, if you're going to stick around, you might as well ask for your powers back..sheesh, you non-committal people.

I am amazed that people can take a discussion about forums and bias and turn them into another "this game should have been this" discussion.

It does always seem to happen. Not what I wanted on this occasion. That's the thing I guess. I still stand by my comments about bias on these forums. I strongly stand by them. Having said that I do appreciate that the general tone of these forums can sometimes take their toll. I understand.

Whenever I go online, I find people that actually like to play halo 2 and like the game. Here, we have forums filled with complainers that all seem to have problems with the game. Whether it's the ranking system, little kids online, WHATEVER, everyone has something to complain about.

Why is this?

Simply, it is a lack of perspective on life. For some people Halo 2 is a way to relax when they get home from work or school. To other people Halo 2 is life. Here is an example. While many people played hookie to play Halo 2 when it was released, some people quit their jobs for a while to play Halo 2.

These are the people who think that their individual case of getting modded is important enough to start another thread regardless of whether they have anything to say that hasn't been said before now. These are the same people, who despite not having any programming experience or a basic understanding of how game development works, will repeat like robots things that they read on the halo 2 sucks site like it is gospel. Things such as "dedicated servers are economically feasible" and "Bungie can't code and all they have to do is drop in a few lines of code to stop cheating". The last thing you want to do is ask this person what these few lines are...

Basically it goes like this. If you like the game, then you are playing the game. If something annoys you about the game, then you go find a place to complain so the community can be annoyed.

Let me give you an example. Halo 2 sucks. There, now your thread will be locked and the bias will shine through.

And in the Bungie contract that you 'sign' just before your account is made, you've just signed away your freedom of speech.
So you rigtht this website is biased towards Halo, but then what kind of company likes to have bad news talked about it? I'm sure If I went to your house and painted bad things on your walls and windows you would wash them off the next day.

My god man, are you like this at school or work? Can someone be talking to you about lunch not being as satisfying as hoped and that is used as a reason to bring up your personal feelings about one particular game?

Was anyone asking about the subject of Halo 2? Was that the topic of this conversation? Or, did someone mention the fact that the moderators seem to be irritable and locking topics?

Gee, I wonder why? Perhaps it's because nearly every single conversation about anything gets hijacked with this crap?

* "We need to change some rules". Turns into "here's what I think is wrong with Bungie and Halo 2"
* "I have a question about something". Turns into "here's what I think is wrong with Bungie and Halo 2"
* "Since we're in The Septagon, lets talk about this site". Turns into "here's what I think is wrong with Bungie and Halo 2"
* "Did anyone see the video update?". Turns into "here's what I think is wrong with Bungie and Halo 2"
* "Insert any topic here". Turns into "here's what I think is wrong with Bungie and Halo 2"

"The immatures of the forum" indeed. "Can't take real logic"? Hell, I would settle for some common courtesy.

People will never cease to amaze me.

Sorry, i ddint mean it like that . I am just saying that people here are so indesisive and defensive about thier opinions. They never let up, and cease to give any hint to a reason as to why they think that. They constantly just say," Its good because i said so". It is just so hard to talk to alot of people here. Although it is true taht alot of people online thik that the game is great and anyone who complains about it is a newb. Then here alot more complaints pop up.

I'll be on my own side.

Honestly, did you not expect some sort of bias in these forums? Think about the site you're on. This is Bungie.net, home of Halo, one of the biggest, if not THE biggest franchises in gaming, and the Xbox's flagship series. Did you not expect some sort of pro-Xbox, anti-PS2 bias?

Stop acting as if you're oppressed somehow. Just because there is a blam filter on words(and topics)that always spark flame wars doesn't mean our rights are being suppressed. It means that Bungie doesn't want their forums to turn into a chaotic mess lilke IGN or Xbox.com's forums.

If you take a topic such as this, and turn it into a complaint thread about Halo 2 and Bungie, why don't you break a Halo 2 disc, and slit your wrists with the pieces?

People whine and complain because that's what people do. Whether or not you like it makes no difference, because you have to deal with it no matter what. This site is not a totalitarian dictatorship. The only reason half those topics exist in Optimatch and Zanzibar is because Bungie allows people to voice their opinions on the game. Deleting topics that don't favor Halo or Halo 2 would be stupid. Besides, the moderators can't control and delete every single whiny topic. Let them whine in peace. Eventually, they'll realize that Bungie could care less if they stop playing Halo 2 because Backwash and Team Duals aren't taken out of Matchmaking.

Also, it's pretty retarded that in a topic like this, you feel the need to tell us about how Socialism is "better" than our form of government, as if it affects an internet forum about Halo.

Here we go. People trying to tell me "hey dude you're in Bungie so do as you're told". This is the whole point I am trying to make. If you live in a country that's built on freedom of speech does that mean you can't have a view different to the government. Does that mean you can't stand up for what you believe without being told to shut up?

Here we are in a society built on freedom of speech but the same can't apply here. Thanks.

Bungie.net is not America, it is Bungie.net. It is a site that a game developer pays for so their fans have a place to come together and discuss pretty much whatever they want. It is privately owned and can be set up however the owner sees fit.

Over the past couple years, I have had to visit one of my company's vendors in Eire, PA to witness a hydrostatic test on some things we purchased. The first time I was there, I had gone outside to have a cigarette and somebody came up to me and told me that I am not allowed to smoke on the property because of that company's policy. I apologized and then thought to myself, "What kind of crap is that! I'm outside having a cigarette in the U.S. of A. and this jerk comes up and tells me I cannot do so on company grounds. Freakin' -blam!-s!" Later I realized that it is that company's private property and that is the policy they have set. On subsequent visits, I did not smoke while I was at their facility because they do not allow it and it is their right to do so.

Think of Bungie.net as any other company's property and respect the rules and stipulations that you agreed to when joining the site. You do have a right to voice your opinion here and I know I have never locked a thread where somebody had a different view than myself, so long as the post originator actually tried to back up his argument with reasons besides, "OMGZ u sux!11!!," because that is just spam.

Thanks for the frank assessment of the state of play. Having thought about this and being of mature age and reasoning I can understand it. However I can't help but gain the feeling that this stance you so eloquently outline is something that is simply used to keep order. I hear it now. "Exactly" you may say. After all is that not the point. Sometimes the laws may seem a little rough but after all they exist for the good of the company. I guess my somewhat negative approach to the way Bungie and other private companies operate comes from my negative approach to the way the world operates.

Furthermore, criticism of Halo 2 is allowed as long as it is rational and well argued. Just saying, halo sucks, doesn't persuade anyone and it just upsets people. It is interesting that two apparently contradictory complaints are often made here: 1. Bungie.net is full of complainers 2. Bungie.net is prejudiced against other games and negative opinions.

B.net has many threads full of criticism, but if the threads stay with b.net rules, they are allowed.

Freedom of speech must be the most misunderstood legal concept. How many times is somebody going to come to this site and say, "It's my constitutional right to -blam!- like nobody's business."

Phrog pilots, reckless and free. We would strap into our birds, set the engines on fire, and leave these earthly bonds with a chorus of WHOP WHOP WHOP. Akin to beating your chest and howling in defiance at the rest of the world.

It seems like a strange disparity but it's not very surprising. The people playing Halo 2 on Live are doing so because they enjoy it. Now when something or someone comes along, like a modder, and conflicts with that fun people will naturally react negatively. At this point, a person’s reaction typically corresponds to their maturity.

Lets say that our unhappy person wishes to broach their subject. In their opinion, who better to discuss/vent to than the people that made the game. The mature person will find the correct avenue, be it reporting a cheater to Microsoft or reporting a glitch to Bungie, and state the problem. The immature person on the other hand, tends to succumb to common human behavior. They want to be heard, speak loudly, and have their own private soapbox. That's why they create a new thread when one already exists with the same subject. That's why they repetitively complain about the same thing. In their mind, the spotlight is justifying what they have to say. Unfortunately, this inane human desire is also human nature.

So essentially, the more immature people that are around the more it seems that complaints dominate the forums. It's ironic that immaturity and insanity are so very similar. Immature people don't realize their being immature just as crazy people don't realize their crazy.

I would agree with the posters as far as this whole freedom of speech debate. Obviously, this is the property of Bungie and therefore they can moderate anything they want here. It is actually quite gracious of them to allow us the freedom that they do. When you send a letter to a newspaper, they have and will reserve the right to either not print it at all, or edit it for brevity. The only trouble they could get into is if they print your letter in some altered form that actually makes you say different things than you intended. Freedom of speech means you could get yourself a blog, or even a www.bungiestinks.com web address and blast away, and Bungie couldn't just smash you for it. If Bungie is indeed guilty of being quick to delete or lock threads that are critical of them (which I have not seen myself, and I was lurking on these boards before I was a member), it just isn't a big deal.

As for the folks that complain; listen. You could make the sweetest game of all time, and people would still have complaints. Haven't we all met people who just seem to complain all the darn time?! I have my ideas, like everybody else here, on what would make Halo 3 better, but all one can really ask is that Bungie continues to work their collective butts off and not sacrifice any of their high standards.
