We are all going to get banned aren't we?

I would love for it to be changed to where the covenant vehicles had shields, how strong they are ofcourse depends on the vehicle but it think that it would just flow far more.

in the halo 2 demo we show a phantom with shields, i remember drooling over this becuase i thought my dream had came true (yes i have been wanting this for that long).

So vehicles like the phantom, wraith, revenant, spectre (which also had shields i think) would have them.

i don't think the ghost or banshee should have them though.

thoughts on this idea that will never happen?

If this were to happen in Canon, it would conflict several times with various stories unless they are weak shields.

In gameplay, they would have to have weak armor if they have shields, so it would equal the amount of how much it originally had.

what stories would be greatly altered? they shields do not have to be crazy strong (since their ground tech isn't as effective as the space tech) it would just be the fact they had them.

** the covenant alloy isn't much different than titanium the UNSC uses, the shields are the game changer.

I see no reason why vehicles wouldn't have shields.

This is just one, but when Linda took out the Banshee's in First Strike, that is if they couldn't be penetrated with the Sniper bolt.

You do see in the OP that i said i don't think banshee's or ghosts should have them right?

"The measure of a man is what he does with power"-Plato

That's what made Sabre so special. The installation of Mjolnir technology in vehicles.

That's why it's a top secret programme.

I say this because the UNSC would need a huge retcon if UNSC vehicles did have shields. Like the Hog, Falcon etc.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

The Wraiths in Halo Wars have an upgrade where you can give them shields, I think Ghosts did too. Obviously it's a gameplay thing and not canonical but I can see it working.

  • 06.24.2011 12:39 PM PDT

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

If that happened, the Legendary difficulty would be impossible to clear, due to the turret gunners on the Wraith being shielded, it would take all of the ammo just to lower the shields and to then lower their personal shields to kill them.

Same in Matchmaking, vehicles would be too overpowered for balanced gameplay.

The person manning the turret would be exposed, not affected by the shield to balance gameplay. There are much harder things than Wraiths on Legendary, I perscribe a course of Mythic.

Doubt they'd used such a mechanic for multiplayer. Look at how the UNSC aerial vehicles are treated along with the gauss hog.

As for campaign, PP. Simple enough. It already makes the idea of shielded opponents in all the Halo games a joke on legendary. The same would apply to vehicles and their occupants.

Why someone would use conventional ammo and tactics on a vehicle on legendary in the first place just seems foolish in of itself. Now, sure the post above talks about eliminating the turret operator, but just because the ability to 'snipe' out the driver efficiently with a ranged weapon is eliminated hardly means there are not other ways to deal with it. Particularly because the turret only has a 180 degree field of vision and a relatively short range. Therefore it's an easy fix to engage the turret differently on legendary as other things are also approached on harder difficulties. After all, you don't see a sane player try to take out an elite head on with an assault rifle on legendary, fail, then whine about legendary being too hard. That's just stupid.

Well you can in halo 3 and Reach, i wouldn't advise it for halo Ce and 2. :)

You wouldn't be able to board when the shields are up. So no.

And Ultra Sangheili in Banshees, Ghosts, and Revenants would be impossible to kill due to you having to crack two layers of shields

That is why you pop the shields with a plasma pistol (which would also disable the vehicle) before rushing. have you play halo recently?

Read the OP, did i say ghost and banshee's? no i did not. and stop over exaggerating they would not be "impossible to kill" unless you never played past heroic and are incapable of thinking of even the most basic strategys.

I was just using Legendary as an example, I've cleared the LASO challenges alone and with friends, so I know what you're talking about.

Road To Recon Unlocked on : 28th of march 2010

Applying a retcon to a franchise that is creating triple-A
titles is not going to find it easy adjusting things.
That would effect the storyline and eventualy change the plot.
Think of a tall building, you change one bit at the bottom and it will all shift out of course. eventualy collapsing.

Am I supposed to write something funny here?

I don't think covie ground and in-atmosphere vehicles should have shields (seraph is mainly space fighter). I just don't like the idea.

It would make sense but I don't think it would work out so well in gameplay.

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

The Seraphs in Reach had shielding. That worked out fine to my understanding.

Sabres have shields too, and they had weapons strong enough to actually break the shields of the Seraphs, unlike the regular weapons we use as Spartans.
