Very simple set up;

One full Covenant base(ala halo wars) and one large Black Hand base at oppisite sides of an empty partially bombed out New York city. Each army wants the other destroyed.

Said NYC has several large tiberium patches through out the city, as well as several prime locations for expansion.

Each side starts out with enough resources to build a fairly large army without having to gather more. Each side will be fully upgraded in terms of research.

Support powers and superweapons are "locked" for both sides, no nukes for Nod, no orbital bombardment for the covenant. Unit abillities remain though.

Air assets for the covenant are limited to banshees, vampires, and their dropships(no Seraphs or low orbit starships). They loose the pop cap though.

That should do it, discuss who will win the day

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

this is a good thread, i am going to have to look back on CnC mechanics to evaluate this.

Why didn't you do covie vs scrin?

Reasons for Nod vs covie

A. Both are factions of religious zealots(especially the BH sub faction)

B. Because I felt like it.

C. laser chainguns

Banshee + Vampire combo eats up vehicles and aircraft. Banshees can also be used as Harvester killers.

Arbiter becomes the creature of nightmares. In comparison, the Bruto Cheifo and the Prophet of Regret are pwned. Regret might be somewhat of a problem due to his energy shields and his tier 3 upgrade.

The Locust and Scarab can be used to snipe base defenses. If we go by CnC mechanics, the Locust takes out Shredder/Laser/SAM turrets, which is in itself destroyed by Obelisks, which are completely annihilated by UHAPs.

stop over doing it. they reason i complimented the OP on this thread (and normally these all fail) becuase this is actually a good match up ignoring certain things.

seeing how the lasers would eat at the covenant shields fast not to mention the redeemer is a perfect counter to the scarab

And you of all people should be coming in here with the pro halo attitude, you who asked if a [b]forerunner fortress class ship[/b[ could fight the battlestar galatica. clearly we all know the answer to that yet you made that thread anyway.

Do you know what the DPS for the Scarab is compared to the Redeemer?

And of course it could just sit on a cliff and fire down on the Redeemer.

Combine with damage boost from raging Arbiter and constant healing from Engineers...

What I'm wondering is how would Nod Commandos fare? If they get to the Outpost/Keep/Citadel, does the entire base blow up as per Halo Wars?

Yes i do actually, hence me saying "let me review the CnC mechanics before i blindly and foolishly post in which halo will blow CnC out of the what despite the negations"

And that is paraphrasing. you should learn more about CnC (in which the wiki won't get you everything you are going to have to play the games), understand the guidlines he set and then make a post.

Check my [REDACTED] achievements. 100% complete RA3, 95% complete Uprising, 99.9% complete KW, 79% complete TibWars... nice assumption there idiot.

The Black Hand are primarily an anti-infantry faction, hence they would be both strong and weak against the Covenant. They'd be able to clear out Covenant infantry pretty easily but then have a hard time against any Covenant armor. Lack of stealth technology also puts them at a severe disadvantage.

Oh CNC how I miss you.

On the other hand, the average Nod scorpion packs a stronger punch than it's UNSC counterpart; and that's before the laser. So Nod probably isn't too far behind in the AT department.

Also, can you all please:

A. Keep this discusion civil.
b. Not rely strictly on pure game mechnics and unit values. They never line up when doIng a cross over vs

Whoops. So we're using yields from the books now?

In that case, everything that the Black Hand has is slagged. The Covenant lose hundreds of troops, mainly Unggoy and Kig-yar, but the giant overwhelming advantage of anti-tank small arms weapons -due to plasma tech- and numbers soon swarm over the Black Hand base. It's even more crazy when you factor in UHAPs.

To play the devils advocate, Nod can play the Numbers game as well, and usually Better, considering what they normally face(House sized Mammoths anyone?).

The Black Hand has plenty of Anti-Tank themselves, Rocket Squads, Scout Bikes, Specter Artillery, Beam Cannons, Scorpion Tanks, Purifier war mechs, Redeemers; Hell with the purifying flame upgrade for their Flamethrowers, Black hand squads, flame tanks, even confessor squads can melt tanks. Those UHAPs will be melted long before they get close to the base(s/ This is new york city we are talking about, chances of either side having just one is slim).

And though the Black hand lack actual airforces(Should have teamed them up with Marked of Kane), Their Mantis Drones with Tiberium Core missiles should be able to keep the skies clean.

Of course the best thing that plays into the Black Hand's....Er Hands, is that this will be a city fight. Urban Combat always favor an infantry force, and with the BH's Superior Infantry, Covenant Armour will be in a living nightmare as rocket squads and Black Hand fire from garrisions.

Finally I think the Black Hand themselves are probably going to become a new brand of Demon amongst the Covenant Ranks.

Imagine what would be going through a Unggoy's head when he see's a squad of these guys incinerating a few hunters or a Wraith Tank with jets of Blue Tiberium Enhanced flame.

On a somewhat humorous note, Imagine for one moment what happens when you mix a Saboteur with a Covenant Citadel.

A Tiberium powered UHAP, with extra Flamethowers.(Okay, it'd probably just be a red UHAP, but still, it is kinda funny to think about)
