With a new trilogy coming out, I'm very excited to see what will happen. With Halo 3 concluded, there are still very many questions to be answered.

If you have read "Halo: Ghost of Onyx" then you know what some of those questions may be. If not, I will not spoil it for anyone who hasen't.

Also, just because its a new trilogy doesn't mean it has to be told after the events of Halo 3. I know that Halo 4 is but maybe perhaps the other two games will be before the year 2552.

Remember that from Halo CE - Halo 4 is within a very, VERY small timeframe of the Human-Covenant war. This war lasted over 25 years and we whitnessed 4% of it.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

The book was clearly stated to be about post halo e events, and halo 4 isn't about the H-C war.

  • 06.24.2011 6:34 PM PDT

Halo 4 is part of a trilogy. A trilogy is a story spanning three installments. Halo 4 will lead into Halo 5 and Halo 5 will lead into Halo 6. Also Grasslands will be set after the H-C war.

Okay, maybe the games timeframe will be after one another but people out there say that 343i is just milking halo when they've only played 4% of the human-covenant war.

Thanks for the corrections aswell.

25 year war. 1 year of 25 is 4%. Actually is should be more like 2% since the games take up the span of what? 6 months?.

It's more like a single month's worth of actual combat. There's a lot of filler space for slipspace travel, lack of attacks, etc, etc.

  • 06.24.2011 6:48 PM PDT

Good point about the 6 months.
Another good point about how much combat we see.

I think its fair we go with Sniffy66's logic and say we only seen 2% of the human-covanent war.

The novels probably take another 5% of that. Not the timeframe, but actual events that we read. I think 5% is a little steep.

Let's say there is 90% of the war to explore. This can be filled with more games, novel, television series, etc.

Halo isn't being milked. Really, it hasn't even expanded a lot.

I would love for 343i to prove us wrong, but nothing I've seen so far has done that.

Granted we've seen very little, but that tiny glimpse didn't impress.

And as you pointed out, we saw only a tiny portion of the H-C war, and the subject is ripe for further exploration, so why continue after Halo 3?

Halo Anniversary wont be a huge deal but I'm excited to play it.

Halo 4, we seen a trailer that shows John and Cortana going towards a shield world. I'm excited.

The reason to continue after Halo 3 is because we want to know what happens to John. I think everyone does. And for people who read "Ghost of Onyx" ....continue at your own risk

SPOILER ALERT!

Dr. Halsey, Blue Team and the SPARTAN III's are trapped.

  • 06.24.2011 7:20 PM PDT

To me John's story was adequately wrapped up in the original trilogy.

There are 30-odd other Spartans who were running around at the same time as John, who presumably were having adventures that were just as exciting as the Chief's, why can't we follow one of them?

[Announcement Trailer] Halo: Forerunner

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

I can't wait for 343 to make a trilogy so astoundingly bad that I'm literally speechless either.

O.K. that was disingenuous, but I dislike the presumption that just because Halo prefaces the title it will be a game worth playing...and the troll math. (Keep up the spoiler alerts though, God forbid you ruin the ending to a five year old book).

I suspect llamas are secretly wizards. I <3 poptarts n' milk. I like me. Grimick is defined as: a logical parodox, the act of funnaling a potato down your throat, and a deliciously flavored muffin (with pecons and blueberries). Norway is the Swedish word for 'moron'. My sister has cancer, so i get to use handicap parking and cut small children in line at Disneyland.

"Don't eat doughnuts on thin ice."

"The pancake, my friend, has officially been flipped."

I really hope they do well.

But i disagree with paragraph 3

  • 06.24.2011 7:45 PM PDT

To dibbs089, even though its a 5 year old novel, that doesn't necessarily mean that everyone has read it. Someone could be on the forums today and say, "hmm.. I want to read Ghost of Onyx tomorrow."

To Gtimick, I agree with you. Third paragraph is probably false.

I would love for 343 to make a sick new Halo trilogy, but thats going to up in the air until the game comes out. I just hope they have much deeper story lines.

That's the problem. There's a difference between launching new things expanding the Universe and reissues and remakes for additional revenue.

While there have been some neat original content pumped out like the Cryptum with more in the future in the form of Grasslands, there have been several more remakes and reissues covering well traversed ground already from the multiple reissues of the original three novels, the different editions of the encyclopedias, the smaller books that function like a miniture encyclopedia, the comic adaptation of The Fall of Reach, etc.

"Concise and devoid of elegance...what I have come to expect from human communication"-Endless Summer

If there is one more sequel before Master Chiefs story is finished I will personally make a working SRS and kill the one in charge.

I admit, I'm not a fan of the comics, but regardless its little stories. Halo Legends was a -blam!-show but I think that they're trying to appeal to different audiences.

Halo CE remake (reimagination) is something that i personally wanted to see. It only took them a year or so to come out with. Something quick to get started.

I'm just going to say, that spoiler alert is poor. Next to no space between it and the line so if somebody actually didn't know that, they would get it spoiled :P.

Its in bold lettering to attract the eye so if someone doesn't wanna get spoiled they can go, "OH NO!" and throw their computer out the window so they don't get spoiled.

Master of Death

but think like this, if they just say it's halo 4, to let you know the game will take place after the end of H-C war, and may the game title will change, it's just a reference to start from it.

  • 06.26.2011 10:50 AM PDT

Walk softly, and carry a big midget.

I'd prefer it if the mina/numbered games (Halo CE, 2, 3) carried on after one another and then have the "Spin offs" at different points in time (ODST was set during Halo 2, Reach before Halo CE and Halo Wars was early in the war). Also the main games should be about the Chief. I wouldn't mind if they had a flahsback sequence at the beginning of Halo 4 explaining what's happened.

Also, Halo 4 is at least 4 years after Halo 3 (said by Cortana from Halo Legends, Origins).
