No Boren's syndrome was the cover for Johnson's immunity to the flood. Its where lengthy exposure to plasma screws your spinal nerves-which is what the flood relies on to infect things. However Johnson never had this, it was his augmentations that make him immune.

noboody is immune to the flood other than hunters.

One huge hole in your logic though-MJOLNIR MK VI is the most advanced power suit of the human race. It constantly scans your body to detect any illness, injury or contamination. It could easily detect flood spores.
Plus, it is impossible for John to have been infected. The one possible time for it-after regret in Halo 2 i think, the situation you described-he was in armour the whole time. There was no breach and his armour filters all air intake with great care.

I meant via infection form.

As I understood it most all Spartans experienced some side effects from the augments they received and they were all classified under 'Boron's Syndrome" Either way, Most or all Spartans of my knowledge (Which is fallible) were immune to the Flood which is why even in Halo CE, the spore carriers, Squiddies, poptarts and popcorn whatever you want to call them; were easier to defeat with a couple whacks and let the rest pop on your shield.

the armor does not do that and john almost got infected if cortana didn't save him.

And augmentations don't prevent the spartans from getting infected, majority of them do not even know about the flood.

I wouldnt be so sure...Hunters consist of dozens if not hundreds of worms as thick around as your wrist and up to three feet long. In Halo 3 you had those mutating flood with similar worms.

hunters do not have a spine nor a central nervous system. they can not be infected whatsoever

I'm not.
*Pulls out new weapon from Halo 4 teaser*
And i'm not the patient type.

To everyone-you can be infected through different means than just infection forms.
A list off the top of my head-
Infection form(duh)
Flood spore(some random canon thing where elites are on a ship, one breathes in too many spores and turn into a combat form, then slices off his partner's mouth tentacle thing-his partner was the shipmaster elite from Halo 3.)
Or you could be absorbed by a big fat one(Halo: Legends[film] Origins II. A forerunner gets eated.)

I don't want to be mean but are you mental? In all honesty, who can be this stupid?

If you are going to be on the Bungie forums, go to another section please, thank you.

You know what the say: " Even a broken clock is right twice a day."

Eventually Joshua is bound to get something right if he keeps going... Or maybe not.

ok this might make me unpopular but hey. do people take your word or understanding of lore as the "law"?? true there is more then one way to become infected by the flood
1)spores
2)gravemind
3)carriers
(mayebe another)?

but yes SGT johnson was immune to the pods and seemingly the spore's seeing as he was trapped down in halo 04's flood research centre for a fair amount of time. and seeing as its his augumentations from the ORION PRJKT/SPRT-1 then it's more then safe to assume MC and the other spartan II's are also immune to these form's of flood infection. and MC's MK-5 armour is capable of "SCRUBBING" the air he breathes so as to not allow any spores in so why would the MK-VI be downgraded in this respect? not hating on you just wonderded as to were you heard/read this?

because they know i don't say anything unless i can back it up or state otherwise, plus i've been here for years.

I gave the requirements for being infected i never said there were no other ways to get infected.

johnson being immune was corrected around halo 2 era so the people that keep bring it up are that outdated.

no human is immune to the flood, nothing other than the lekgolo are.

In "the flood" MC was swarmed by infection forms going after the weak spots in his armor and one actually got into his armor but cortana shocked him thus saving him. chief was terrified that he almost got infected and started being more serous after that.

Read the books and get updated people.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Even though his post is gone, all I have to do is see the title to bang my head against the desk. If he is going for a bigger member title, he does know getting banned resets it right?

And he was banned. Again. He must know he will not get anywhere fast here. He should just stay in the gallery and community.

i did a play through of halo CE yesterday for nostalgia's sake and though i know your refrencing the book. Halo:the flood that doesn't actually happen in the game and i belive the games cannon/events override those of the books/comics/anime's etc?

and were abouts in halo 2 does it clarify that no one's immune to the flood?.

off topic do you play on 360/pc?

  • 06.26.2011 3:55 AM PDT

I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.
I created the Moa XING avatar pic.
Also I earned the All Star nameplate with this submission to Week 14 All Stars http://www.bungie.net/images/News/Inline11/bwu_0415/art/likea boss.jpg

This doesn't explain how Cortana could communicate through Chief over hundreds of thousands of lightyears unless there was a constant slipspace portal open somewhere.
