this is my second fan fiction, both fan fictions are currently under way and are quite exciting, or will be later in the stories... as there is a lot of explaining to do. Hope you enjoy. please comment!

From the author of Spartan Gray Team: Deep Space

The beginning may be a little cheesy but i assure you this story will not disappoint!

Prologue

Time: Unknown
Location: Unknown

Kurt's eyes opened opened grudgingly. No, impossible, he thought, how could i be alive? He had been vaporized when he had detonated a tactical nuke on the planet Onyx. The thought of Onyx provoked a series of other thoughts to enter his mind. Were his Spartans alive? Yes, they were alive, he had seen them enter the portal; they had to be alive.

He banished the thoughts from his mind and looked at his surroundings; he stood in the direct center of a wall of fog that was twenty meters in circumference. The ground below his feet could hardly even be seen as it was covered by the same thick fog, which was odd because he could see the hemisphere of fog several meters away, but he couldn't see past the fog that was on the ground. It was all very interesting.

"What am i supposed to do?" Kurt wondered aloud.

He looked down at his hands and was surprised to see he was encased in MJOLNIR armor. What was he doing in MJOLNIR armor, none of this made any sense whatsoever! He pressed his gauntlets to his head and felt no helmet; once again things seemed to be out of sorts. They made no sense.

"What's going on?" Kurt yelled aloud in frustration. He could hear his voice echoing in every direction.

Then, the clouds in front of him swept apart and revealed a silver-gray colored structure, more of a platform with a throne that sat upon it. The whole structure pulsated some sort of blue light; something about it seemed familiar to Kurt. On the throne sat an alien life form that was encased in gray, pulsing armor.

"My child, what frustrates you so?" it asked in a calm, soothing voice. The voice made Kurt assume it was male.

"None of this makes sense," breathed Kurt.

"Ah, Reclaimer, all will come into focus," he said reassuringly.

Kurt looked intently at the alien. "Reclaimer, what does that mean?"

"The chosen," said the alien.

Kurt's brow scrunched up in confusion. "Chosen..." he muttered. "Doesn't matter, and although I am curious, there is another more pressing matter." He paused. "What am i doing here?"

"Kurt, you are the chosen one, and I could not allow the Covenant to steal your soul" he sighed.

"You know my name?"

"I know so much about you Kurt. I watch over this galaxy, I was appointed by the council to keep the Milky Way in order when the rest had passed on. I am the Overwatch."

"The Overwatch..." said Kurt aloud. A flood of questions filled his brain. "What is my purpose here?"

"My child, Kurt, Reclaimer. You have many names to you, but you are chosen for a task that could save your people, and so many others from utter destruction and endless damnation." He looked at Kurt with a sense of foresight. "There is a flood coming child, one that could quite literally destroy the entire galaxy. You must stop it."

"A flood? what sort of flood?" Kurt asked with a worry filled voice.

"That," said the Overwatch, "you must find out for yourself. I suggest, reclaimer, that you find the other Spartans in your team once you are released from this..." he searched for the right words, "haven. Find them, and they will assist you in your task. The galaxy depends on it."

"This is too much to swallow," Kurt said, his head swimming. Find his teammates? Save the galaxy from a flood? How was this possible, he was dead! "Besides, how can i save the galaxy if i'm dead?" Kurt asked incredulously.

The alien pressed a button on his throne and chuckled. Was it a chuckle? He swept away those petty thoughts and paid attention to the time being once again.

"Dead? No. You are not dead, as I told you earlier I could not allow the Covenant to steal your soul. So I transported you to the this haven before your nuclear bomb could destroy you," said he.

Kurt put his gloved fingers to his temples. Not dead? But he had detonated the HAVOK tactical nuke.

"What do you-" Kurt began but the Overwatch stopped him with a wave of a hand.

"Never mind that Kurt, the time has come for you to leave."

"Leave? Where to?"

"To Onyx my child, for that is where your journey begins. Deactivate the installation there."

"Installation?" asked Kurt.

"You will know it when you see it my son." He paused in thought. "But, before you leave, I have a surprise for you."

Kurt just raised his eyebrows and cocked his neck.

One small section of the platform opened up and a figure began to rise. The figure was just over two meters tall, by the look of it a male, and strong. Fog poured over him, making it hard to see him. The fog cleared just enough to see he was dressed in something colored olive green.

"Behold Reclaimer, another of your kind!" exclaimed the Overwatch excitedly.

"Kurt," said the man. His voice was so oddly familiar, one from the far distant past, from his early childhood.

The man stepped out of the fog and revealed himself to Kurt. He wore MJOLNIR mark V armor, just the same as Kurt was wearing. His face was welcoming, with a bright grin. His hair was very dark. Kurt knew the face, one from his early childhood, an old friend who had died in the year 2525, the very first Spartan to die in the war against the Covenant.

"Sam..." Kurt said aloud, utterly amazed. "But John and Kelly saw you die!"

Sam snorted, pulling his hands from behind his back, revealing two MJOLNIR mark V helmets. He handed one to Kurt. "Those Covies couldn't take me down," he laughed.

Kurt put on his helmet and sealed it. Sam did the same. It felt good to be secured back in his MJOLNIR armor, he felt safe from everything.

"It's been too long Sam. Much too long. But if you don't mind my asking, how are you even alive?"

Sam smiled and opened his mouth. But another voice spoke instead, the Overwatch's. "I would not allow him to die reclaimer. He means too much to this mission."

"But that was twenty five years ago?! How could you have known that this would happen?" Kurt asked.

"As I have said Spartan, I know much about this galaxy. I have seen both of your futures," the Overwatch stated. "But I have already wasted enough time as it is. It is time to send you to the micro dyson sphere that is Onyx."

"When do we leave?" asked Kurt.

The Overwatch stood upon his strond legs and walked up to the front of the two Spartans. He was much taller than the two humans, nearly three meters tall, and he was a bit more imposing than Kurt had originally taken him for. He crouched down to the Spartans' heights.

"Now," he said simply. He reached his enormous index fingers at the Spartans' heads.

"Wait!" said Kurt. "Before we leave, I must know what you are."

The Overwatch's cocked his head and gave a laugh. "Have you not already guessed reclaimer?" he asked. "I am Forerunner."

With that the Overwatch tapped the index finger of his enormous hand, one that could encase an entire melon, against the helmets of the two Spartans and they disappeared in strobes of golden light.

Hey, thanks there's more coming. if you like my story you should also read Halo Spartan Gray Team: Deep Space.

There's also more coming to this story, although i'm writing both of them at the same time so it may take some time. I'll try to have chapter one up within the next week. Anyways, recommend this to your friends because i'm fairly new at writing fan fictions so nobody can see these stories. And i think they'd be pretty succesful if people game them a chance.

I don't understand how he can see a whole twenty meters but he cannot see the ground.

Anyways... about his eyes fluttering open. That doesn't seem like something a guy who was dead would do.

-rubs chin-

So half of a circle is the radius... multiply the radius by 3.14 and you have the Diameter. Multiply the diameter by 3.14 and you have the circumference... so that means he can see a total of 197.192 meters if he had eyes on the back of his head.

So... lets cut that in half... that means he can see half of a circle basically... depending on how far his eyes are spread apart.

Lets say whatever way he is facing is how much he can see.

So if he can see half of that circle. That means he can see an approzimate total of 98.596 yards.

I would think atleast.

ALSO about The Overwatch. If he is forerunner. I recommend reading the wikia. But this is your fanfic... you are free to do as you wish with it.

I'm sorry. but did you read Halo: Cryptum?

This is an interesting plot, I liked the fact that Sam is back. The story was good, just confusing as I'm sure you wanted it to be. By the way, when I read the first chapter I noticed some very small grammar mistakes. Make sure you re-read your work and fix those, it will make it look more professional. Either way, good job.

I'm awesome...No seriously I am.

This story is amazing! I have yet to read Ghosts of Onyx, but I had owned it once. I just never got around to reading it. Overall it is an impressive piece of fan fiction. I too have ideas on a story,But I am to afraid of the outcome of reviews from the public on Bungie.net. Anyways, keep up the good work, and I can't wait for part 2 of your peice of fan fic.

He's right. It's just creative criticism. The author won't get mad, he's a pretty cool guy.

Hey thanks a lot guys. One thing: if you have an idea for a fan fic you get out there and write it. You may get constructive criticism but that good for you. And remember what yoda said "Do or do not. There is no try."

Chapter 1: Exploring a fishbowl
Time: Unknown
Location: Onyx-Micro Dyson Sphere

Sam materialized on his knees in a green pasture. Kurt materialized next to him. Sam groped his helmet and pulled it off just as the puke began to flow out of his mouth and onto the dark green grass. It felt like his insides had been torn out of his body, turned inside out, and sowed back inside of his body.

"You alright Sam?" asked Kurt who was standing against a tree with an enormous trunk. He didn't seem like he was sick at all.

"Yeah, I'm good," said Sam between puking.

He wiped his lips, stood up, and looked at his surroundings. They stood in a grove of dark green glass, surrounded by a ring of evergreen trees. Above them was a giant yellow sun. Interesting, thought Sam. The Overwatch had explained this Micro Dyson Sphere thing to him, but it was hard to comprehend all of it. From what he understood it was like a fishbowl, with a compressed bubble of slipspace around it.

"What now Kurt?" asked Sam who was rubbing his stubbly hair.

Kurt looked at Sam then around them. "We need to get to finding the other Spartans, that was the first step to stopping this 'flood." Kurt told him.

"Sounds good," Sam said. "but, uh, where can we find them?"

"I don't know Sam, I haven't been here before. Because you know, I 'died' so the Spartans could make it through."

Sam nodded. A sudden thought occurred to him. "Kurt?"

"What?" Kurt responded.

Sam sealed his helmet as Kurt started walking towards the fringe of the ring of trees.

"How many Spartans are on Onyx?"

Kurt froze and spun around. He put his hands to his helmet and pulled it off. His scarred white face was somber. Sam wondered what was up.

"Sam," began Kurt, "the Covenant... they found Reach"

Sam looked at the ground silently. Reach was the strongest military base humanity had held. "We fought them back, right?"

Kurt slightly shook his head. "I'm sorry Sam, Reach has fallen. The majority of the Spartans went MIA." said Kurt.

Then they were dead... All except the Spartans on Onyx. Was John alive? Kelly? Fred? Joshua? Linda?

"Whose left?" Sam muttered. It was like someone had pulled out his stomach out, tore it in half, and forced him to eat it.

"Not many. Fred, Kelly, Linda. Will made it with us to Onyx but he was..." Kurt looked at the ground sadly. "He was killed by two hunters in hand-to-hand combat."

"Aren't there any others?" asked Sam desperately. His friends, no his family, had almost all been killed by those bastard Covenant. Now his family was decimated; there was only a handful of them left.

"From what Fred told me there aren't many. Fred said that he had heard John was still alive through a slipspace transmission, but it has been a while since we last heard from him. We lost contact with Red team and Gray team when they were lost in deep space missions. Then there's the Spartan IIIs..."

At least John was still alive... most likely. Gray team was lost in deep space? They had been the best of the best when it came to observation espionage. And what about red team? Jerome had been a hardcore leader, one of the best that the Spartans had to offer. Then there was the Spartan IIIs, when did that happen? Sam had so much to learn, especially after being "dead" for twenty seven years.

"Alright, the Spartan IIIs, tell me about them, when did that happen?" Sam asked, resting against a tree. Kurt ran his hands through his hair.

"Well, it's classified... but that's not really gonna matter anymore. Alright, here it goes..." Kurt dove into the story about how he was kidnapped and was chosen to train the Spartan IIIs. Then he told Sam about the Onyx situation, and how he was supposed to be dead, but the Overwatch had cheated him of his death. Then Kurt had finished and it was silent.

"Wow," Sam muttered. "That was a noble thing you did Kurt."

Kurt shook his head. "It was my duty Sam, any other Spartan would have done the same had they been in my position."

Sam nodded, deciding that he would stay silent rather than make an unnecessary comment. Kurt pulled his helmet back on and sealed it. He looked around and started heading in a random direction. Sam followed suit, putting on his helmet and sealing it.

The pair of Spartans pushed through the dense forest, travelling over ten kilometers until they found the end of the treeline. As far as Sam could see was fertile grasslands, however one enormous superstructure dominated the view. The colors and patterns that dominated its surface were akin to the platform and throne that Kurt and Sam and seen when they had been with the Overwatch. It was nearly nine kilometers tall, four kilometers long, and was four hundred fifty meters wide.

"A Forerunner structure," Kurt said informatively.

Forerunner, thought Sam. The Overwatch had said that that word realier. No, the Overwatch was a Forerunner. When Sam had been teleported by the Overwatch to his "haven" he had been placed in a form of cryo, what the Forerunner had called stasis, until an hour before Kurt arrived. When he was taken out of stasis Sam had been told by the Overwatch about the situation. Everything that Kurt had been told, Sam had been told.

"I suppose we ought to find out what that structure is," Sam said.

Kurt nodded. "Yeah, you're right, let's go."

Sam turned up the magnification on his visor until it showed the distance of the structure. Three hundred meters to the structure. The two of them jogged to the structure, nothing impeding them.

"Entrance?" asked Sam as he looked over the structure.

"Fourty-five degree angled ramps," said Kurt as he pointed.

At the wide side of the building there were four forty-five degree ramps. The two of them strode up the ramp into a spacious room, one that spanned the entire length of the structure. In the middle of the room was an circular platform with a holographic console in front of it.

"This place is... interesting," Sam said.

"Agreed. Think we should use that thing?" asked Kurt pointing to the platform. "I think it's an elevator."

Sam glanced around the room. It was so full of Forerunner technologies that he didn't know where to begin. There air ducts, tall doors, enormous computers and monitors, large glowing pillars that shot out pulses of blue, and many other things.

"We might as well use it, we've got time." said Sam.

Kurt nodded and they stepped on the platform. Sam reached out a hand to the console and hesitated. He didn't know what to press to activate the platform. He closed his eyes and pressed his finger against one of the hologram symbols. The platform hummed and activated. Much to Sam's surprise it began to descend.

Kurt shook his head. "With this huge structure, who could imagine that there would be a basement to it?" Kurt asked.

"Gotta be a lot of Forerunner tech here..." Sam remarked.

Kurt nodded the affirmative. They descended slowly, passing level after level until the platform halted, emitting a screeching noise. A triangular door opened in front of them, leading into a cylindrical cavern of a room. In the center of the room was a basketball sized sphere lit by several spotlights. An anti-gravity device, glowing blue held the sphere in place.

"What the hell is that?" Kurt marveled.

Why haven't you heard of the new novel. HALO Glasslands. it has the Characters from Ghost of Onyx in the new Novel that Karen Traviss is writing. Just please don't put the other Spartans in there. it would totally defeat the entire purpose of story.
