And I'm not reffering to the Great Schism, say during Halo 2 when the Covenant had all the species together, the Prophets trigger an event that causes all species to fend for themselves, who would come out the victor?

I instantly know a lot of people will say Elites, but just stop and think, the Engineers will no longer be able to care for the ships, and the grunts, jackals and other species will not longer assist in operating the controls. A total war between all species.

Who will come out the victor?

I just play for fun. MLG can kiss my ass.

First of all, engineers help out anyone.

OT: Elites, they're master tacticians. They took out a fleet 3 times the size of their own.

Master Tacticians that cannot care for their own ships, years after the war with the Brutes their fleet was shrinking in size without the assistance of the Prophets.

No, I think the Elites would win because they despite the lack of engineers, they would still be the smartest and the most militaristic and tactically superior race in the Covenant. They would have won against the Prophets originally had it not been for the Forerunner Dreadnought.

Elites, they are the smartest race in the covenant after the prophets.

REACH 2 ACHIEVE.
Pink but deadly

Yes, I have to agree with elites. They are the smartest, bravest, and most tactical. If all of them banned together and took up all positions on the ships and whatnot, they should be able to handle it.

Humans.

After 29 years of holding our ground against the deadliest Alien collective in the Galaxy, we would have no trouble taking on a weak and shattered Covenant.

As much as I agree, I don't think thats the point of the OP.

Would depend on the circumstances of the war really.

Are we talking ALL cove members suddenly decide wherever they are that they dont want to work for 343 because they are best buds with bungie and even have them as a friend on facebook so they just decide to fight each other there an dthen.

Because in tat case im thinking brutes will come out on top.

If say the warring had stopped and the cove fell apart and everyone went back to there planets/systems then a war broke out i'd say the elites.

Then again the grunts seem to be innumerable and capable of handling most equipment (ship/scarabs/turrets) so if tey were all together they might win it just on numbers. Most people wouldnt give them a chance because there heads have a tendancy to explode into confetti but how many time have we all ran into a room melle'd the elite to be killed by 6 grunts with plasma pistols.

Also i have always wanted a halo game that is like pre human contact and to play as various cove members in the differetn wars. Being a hunter would be EPIIIIIIIIIC.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

This would be the most logical answer. But since it has to be a Covenant species, I'm going to go with Elites.

Some argue they may not take care of their ships, but what's the point, when back then they controlled pretty much every Covenant military warships with exception of the rare Jackal scout ships.

The Elite's would win absolutly no doubt.

I am Field Master Avu Med 'Telcam, Servant of the Abiding Truth, and I have many brothers.

A god who creates tools is still a god. It is not for us to impose qualifications upon the divine or presume to guess its intentions.

Elites.

Obviously.

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

Elites.

Sometimes I often wonder why the Forerunners had not offer them the mantle instead.
They are physically superior and have a strong sense of honor/duty. The standard Elite soldier intellect outweighs many human soldiers.

True, but Humans surpass the Elite's in their creativity and ability to grasp, adapt and invent. Even the Forerunners noted this.

Humanity is pretty much on par with the Elite's except when comparing physical prowess. Intelectually, Elite's and Humans are pretty much equal. And the sense of honor is something that is bred into them. Humanity was like that too, Samurais and Ancient Spartans had an incredible sense of honor and followed a code stricly. If you impose something like that onto a populace, ofcourse they will abide to that honor/code.

Elites and canonically they would have the engineers to help them.

"Only the Fallen are Heroes, while the ones who still stand are villains"

@ninjakenzen

If you read Cryptum it is stated that Humans and Forerunners are eerily similar in appearance and that it is hinted strongly that Humans and Forerunners were both created by the Precursors. Bornstellar even has a small thought that Humans were the "updated" model and were meant to replace the Forerunners as the Precursors' creation.

Sidenote, I'd laugh if in future Greg Bear installments that we learn the reason Forerunners wiped out the Precursors was that the Forerunners learned they were being "Dethroned" by their little brother in a metaphorical stand point XD

I'm pretty damn sure that it'd be the Elites who would win. Grunts have no ships and would just be massacred by the thousands if non were re-enslaved and forced to work for the different factions.

Jackal ships are poorly armed and would not stand a chance against any other Covenant ships, and chances of them successfully commandeering enough ships to even stand a chance are slim to none.

Brutes didn't have enough ships, they might be able to successfully take over ships from the Elites, but they are not very good at strategy, so the Elites would skunk them like they did above the Ark in Halo 3.

Drones wouldn't even be a threat or even considering, they would ended very quickly, probably before the fight even began. Prophets wouldn't stand much of a chance either, they're useless at physical combat so they too are not even worthy of considering as a threat.

The Hunters and Brutes are really the only ones who would stand a real chance against the Elites, and even then Hunters wouldn't really be able to take control of any ships and pilot them into battle, I don't think so anyway. I'm pretty sure that it would take too long for them to prepare any of their brethren to take control of a ship, and even if they did I don't think they'd be very good pilots, they're far more effective as infantry and heavy armor units, both landbased.

The only way I see the Elites really losing is if another side manages to capture the Dreadnought, but even then it's not impossible for the Elites to win due to a very wise variety of factors.

Elites, they know how to control anger unlike brutes and they know strategy. Basically the perfect competitor against Chief anytime because they know how to fight.

Grunts are idiots and are the worst cannon fodders to ever be made, they are weak when their leader is dead or gone (samething).

Jackals are weak in CQC so no matter what they ain't a competition unless you try sniping them yes maybe.

Hunters well they are just armored up juggernauts x10 nuff said

Drones are flying spazzed out 4 year old bi polar kids so whatever easy pickings

Brutes is just an Mr. T on major steroids and very angry
