Hi,

I have upgraded from horible SBC 384KB/s internet to 6.0MB/s Comcast Cable internet, it is great, except on Halo... When I join ANY server, it lags horibly for about ten seconds then locks out and gives me the connection error message on the lower right hand side of the screen. Then after about ten more seconds I get kicked out of the server and a message saying "Server Has Closed Down".

I am connected to a router with two other computers, would that be my problem? I also just upgraded the router. It is a Linksys SRX200, and all of my other games run fine without problems (my ping is 10!).

What should I do? I have the latest version of Halo for PC..

It sounds like the router is causing it. Make sure your router allows ports 2302 and 2303 (udp).

I set the router the way Comcast told me to, and if those ports are not supported and I some how make them supported, will it affect any of my other computers?

And the router has been configured to be compatible with the Comcast Modem.

opening 2 ports won't make your router incompatible with your modem, only closing ports would do that. All opening ports does is allows communication on those specific ports (they're almost like highways, your router will leave some open, and data can go through, but some will be closed and nothing can get through, it's a security feature, it does exactly what your firewall does, just at a hardware level).

How do I open ports on my router?

usually you have to access your router's firmware. You might try googling it, but most routers have a pretty standard local IP address of: http://192.168.1.1

Try typing that into your browser and see if anything comes up. If that doesn't work, you'll need to figure out what local IP your router uses.

Once you get into the admin interface for your router's firmware, you can play around with ports, protocols, and all sorts of fun TLA's (Three Letter Acronyms) I'm not familar with.

I wish I could help you more. Good luck!

You only need to open those ports if you are hosting a server, He's just trying to play normally. Not sure what the issue is but chances are it has something to do with the new setup. I'd call Comcast and see if they have anything to say.

Yeah, I just want to join games. I went into the Network Settings in Halo and those ports are being used. I changed my connection from I think 384KB/s to T1/LAN (Because that's what it is, CNET Bandwith tester said its faster then a T3 connection).

That didn't do any good it still lags.
