For someone, like myself, who has never played Halo: Combat Evolved, what advice would you give them on tackling Legendary?

Happy face most of the time :D

Pistol is like a sniper in that game. Use it.

Plasma charge with plasma pistol ain't useless either.

And just be good ^^ .

My advice to you would be to take it slow, taking cover in every advancement. In combat evolved, slow and steady does indeed win the race, with the exception of the library, where your best means of survival is to book it out of there the best you can.

Also, it might be a good idea to keep your rocket ammo in "The Silent Cartographer" to the end, and use your pistol on the hunters, "one-shotting" them in the back where it is orange. This ammo is saved for the yellow "shipmaster" elite at the very ending. (He's a pain in the neck otherwise.)

If you have any other specific inquiries, feel free to ask me, my dear lad.

As Scott said, take it nice and slow. The only Marines you should be concerned about are the ones with Sniper rifles; they're useful. If you mess up in a fight, you can still win the fight, or just escape; this isn't one of the -blam!- games where losing shields means you die.

This. In Halo CE your shields recharge slower than just about every other halo game. Stay hidden.

Useful tips:

-Plasma Rifles cause enemies to flinch, use this to your advantage.

-Needlers destroy elites (if you have a clear shot).

-If an elite takes a swing at you I am almost certain it will kill you in one hit on legendary. Counter this by dodging and then looping around for the assassination.

-When fighting hunters close-range always strafe to the left.

-Sniper rifles don't harm the flood.

-Plasma pistols are a very useful weapon if you are low on ammo (you can find them anywhere).

-Don't rely much on your marines unless they are armed with a sniper or they are in a warthog turret.

-Plasma Grenades are best used to take out elites. Stick = Dead Covy.

-CE Pistol destroys everything. I assume you already know this.

-Sentinels are easily dispatched with Plasma Rifles.

-Never ditch your sniper on Truth and Reconciliation.

Good Luck and have fun!

death befor dishoner

forget everything u have been told use the magnum u get at the start of the came that gun and that gun alone has the power to blow up the universe in 1 bullet

Due to some e-mail dumbness, my GT is not the one listed on my profile. My GT is the same as my board name.

The Pistol is your friend, but don't fool yourself into thinking it's the solution for everything. Every weapon is useful and has a purpose somewhere. (Well. IMO, the Plasma Rifle is pretty much completely outclassed by the Plasma Pistol... but it's still good to use.)

Don't rush things - just because you see an enemy doesn't mean you need to kill him right away. Take a moment to get the picture of the rest of his group, and think about what you want to do beforehand. Remember: screwing up isn't instant death in this game the way it is in so many others. If something goes wrong you can salvage it if you're quick.

Woah...that just happened...again !

When coming up against SPOILER! use the plasma rifle, it seems to cut right through them in all the Halo games, but in H1 the most !

Sometimes, I dream about cheese.

the plasma pistol the pistol are your best friends. charged pp bolt to take out an elites shield then head shot.

shot a jackal in the foot or the notch in its shield to break his stance then head shot or stick him if he's near other enemies. you can find them tricky at times so use a charged pp bolt on their shield if they waste too much of your ammo

do not fear the hunters, one of the easiest enemies in the game to kill when you get use to engaging them. when you seen one run towards him, he will then run towards you and try to melee you. dodge him then a single pistol/sniper shot to his orange, fleshy core will kill him.

sentinels can be a challenge so a charged pp bolt, take cover. suprise it with your AR, shotgun or pistol.

floods are the most lethal enemies imo. they will use rocket launchers no matter how close you are. shotgun wielding ones can suprise you if you come across one from the corner vice versa. use bullets and needlers to kill flood. sniper rifles are useless against them for some reason, shotgun works well, pistol and AR is decent. flood are immune to melee attacks. avoid shooting or getting near carrier forms as best as you can, the infectious forms are annoying and "size effective"

good luck :)

Unless he has a sniper rifle or chaingun a marine is useless.
Learn to DRIVE(if you get hung up on terrain you aren't a driver) the Warthog. With a gunner you are unbeatable. On Halo(the level) spend as much time as possible behind the wheel. Your bumper and chaingunner should do 90% of the work.

Stealth on AotCR will bag you sleeping grunts and elites that walk pretty predictable paths. A gun butt to the back of the head saves ammo. Oh yeah, follow the ARROWs.
Try to get in a position where you start every firefight with a sticky or two tossed at unsuspecting elites. Don't use stickys on Flood. With practice you can tag incoming Banshee's.
Hunters are weak. The closer you are the safer. Learn to backpedal and then gut shoot them.
The Needler destroys elites.
The Plasma Rifle has a stun effect that slows your enemy's reaction and allows you to strafe close enough to whack them when you start to overheat. With practice you can do the same with the AR. It lacks the stun, but is pretty easy to do on red and blue elites. Goldilox not so much. Shoot the AR in short bursts. Saves ammo and is much more accurate.

Plasma Pistol is the most useful weapon in the game. The OC shot flies perfectly straight for a looong distance. Learn to use it with the M-6D.
Rocket launcher and sniper are great, but dragging them along limits your tactical flexability. You can take out a Wraith with the pistol if you have to.
Caution is fine, but there are times when uber aggression gets you into enemy spawn points and you can wreak havoc on an unprepared enemy. Try ditching the Scorpion for the Warthog on AotCR. I've driven over entire spawns in the corridor of the tower that houses the active camo. Use the Overshield on PoA and charge up that staircase immediately. At the top you are in position to frag and sticky your enemies before they can exit the bulkhead doors.

Invisible elites are best taken on with the AR. Its poor accuracy helps light them up and their shields are pretty weak in the first place.

Belly of the Beast is the hardest thing ever. Watch your radar and time a sticky to go off just as the doors open. Pay attention to the beeps. Sniper the elites, and use your precious frags for a door full of grunts or Jackals. Be aggressive and recover stickys as a priortiy. When things go bad, grab the active camo and whack powerful enemies in the back.

That's something I would say about the flood!

Thank you everyone for the great advice. I will be sure to use it when I play Halo C.E. in a couple of days.

Shields. Plasma isn't that effective with body shots against the Flood, but is quite useful for taking off limbs and making yourself a 'flood buddy'.
