It makes perfect sense, and this theory would explain ALL THE INCONSISTENCIES that Reach has with other halo material.

Halo Reach is a dream created by the Master Chief while he was sleeping between the events of halo 3 and 4.

The dream was a fantasy that MC dreamed up because of so much stress that he had been through in the War, to seeing friends die, most of the Spartan 2's wiped out, etc.

Because of all of this, he subconsciously created a fantasy that was related to the horrible tragedy that happened to Mankind at Reach. He remembered how the space battle only lasted 2 hours, and after that all hope for Reach was lost. Although he knows his fellow man fought valiantly, all hope was lost because of the surprise attack by the huge and menacing forces of the covenant.

This caused him to subconsciously to portray the battle of Reach in a better light, that's why in "Reach" the covenant are not as much of a threat, and came in fewer numbers, that is why in Reach the whole conflict lasted longer then a week or 2.

It also explains ALL the inconsistencies. For example, in his fantasy world, the PoA never left Reach, in fact it was BUILT on Reach. Also i heard there was an Age discrepancy with the Spartan 3's in Reach, and the whole issue of them surviving Operation: Prometheus. This is all explained because the fantasy version of S3's are not the actual haloverse ones. It's actually a coincidence that they share the same name of the real S3's(Spartan 3's), after all MC never knew S3's existed. That also explains why more then two S3's are still alive. He never knew about Operation Prometheus, since in reality, only 2 S3's are alive. There is a reason why you didn't see SPI armor, because MC didn't even know it existed, he knew Spartans wore Mark V armor during the fall of reach, so that is why his fantasy S3's have it.

So what do you think? Is there a possibility that Reach is just a dream?

Signatures are for squares.

Reach was already confirmed to be a dream by Evil Otto.

No that image isn't shopped.

And no he wasn't being serious, unfortunately.

I am Field Master Avu Med 'Telcam, Servant of the Abiding Truth, and I have many brothers.

A god who creates tools is still a god. It is not for us to impose qualifications upon the divine or presume to guess its intentions.

So much stupid, so little care.

Actually its not that stupid when you think about it. This theory is actually possible and would explain how Halo Reach fits in with the rest of the haloverse.

Good theory...

Imagine if Reach's legendary ending would have been the teaser trailer for Halo 4.

That would just tie everything you said together.

Or even better, the start of Halo 4 begins with the end of Reach, however it all becomes blurry and you witness MC waking up from cryo (in a way that is a nod to Halo CE).

No, just...no, there are way too many flaws to that theory to make it anything more than an interesting "what if". Like it or not, Halo: Reach actually occurred in Halo's universe and is part of the story's canon, you don't have to like it, but that's the way it goes.

Now...as for you OP:
*facedesk* What is this? I don't even-
You are bonkers, what you proposed doesn't even make a lick of sense. Chief dreaming up all of that, especially dreaming up real Spartans that, except for Jorge, he never met is completely impossible and totally insane!

I quite like the "Reach is ONI propaganda" theory. Especially because of the Legendary letter~

He didn't dream up real Spartans, all the "Spartans" in his fantasy are CREATED FROM HIS MIND. It's not impossible. If my theory is true, there is no Kat, Noble 6, Jorge, etc, in the real haloverse

Actually, I like ONI propaganda because of that legendary letter, :)

I wouldn't be surprised if 343 industries takes same way with Reach: Call it as cover up by ONI propaganda. Let's see and wait, eh?

And I acknowledged to not accept Halo: Reach as canon, I don't have to declare and make it official, I just don't see that reach being canon happening because of too many errors which you guys explicitly explained that it can be explainable which it cannot be.

Then why, pray tell, would Bungie release marketing material giving backstories for all of Noble Team? Hell why even make a game at all if it's just supposed to be a dream?
