I'm not really interested.

I totally agree we need more moderators, just not more forum ninjas.
Based on this quote from Achronos the possiblity of a new type of moderation crew is a real.
I'm sure you've heard the idea of shadow mods, who basically patrol the forums silently, looking for trouble makers who they calmly deal with.
Right now I think the main hurdle in creating more true forum ninjas is the task of finding mature, sensible, trust worthy, and active members.
Adding some "lite" mods would bypass some of those hurdles. Thy wouldn't be put in a place where they have to make judgement on bans, and basically exist for the extreme rule breaks, not to micro manage.
The type of mods I'm suggesting have 5 powers basically under their belt.
The lock thread tool. Easy enough to explain. If they wish they can report the locked thread to a mod for judgement on banning the OP or those who replied to excessive spam. Used only in extreme cases, most of the time the OP would be reported individually for rule breaking posts.
That brings us to the next point, the report post button. Basically a beeffier, more important function of the report tool, which the shadow mods send a post to a moderator for review and judgement. Things like bypassing the profanity filter, extreme foul language, or flaming someone.
However, for those who insist on their dastardly ways, the shadow mods have the revoke posting priviledges tool. Shock site spamming, or spamming anything in general can be met by revoking the user's posting privileges for 45 minutes, as well as the case being sent to a moderator.
The warning funcition, which someone makes a small goof they are warned as normally happens. No further moderation required.
The edit tool. Not that hard to understand.
As you can see, the amount of power they havenin their hands is very limited, but they are easily equipped to handle any trouble on the forum.
With the addition of 15-20 "lite" mods like this I truly believe bungie.net will be a lot more tame. The gaps in moderation is presence will be alot smaller, as well as avoiding the logistics that come with adding full on mods.
What do you think?
