Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

Hello! I'm Bunie.net's resident medical student (hell i'm sure there are more but I'm the only one who openly declares it!) I love my emblem, and I am periodically active.
I have a Twitter

I had this idea a while back, and Yhe overwhelming idea was, if were going to give them powers why not just all of them?

  • 06.27.2011 10:16 AM PDT

If this is the state of my art, then I secede.

He's actually a master shadow mod.

You know what would be cool? A report button that was weighted based on each individual user's trust.

If a user with a lot of trust reported a thread, it should get bumped to the top of the report queue that the mods have access to.

I'm pretty sure Achronos is referring to finding a way to which the community can moderate itself. The report button was a step in the right direction for that.
That and self control. Not replying to spam for example.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

So you're basically making 15-20 people forum ninjas with a different name.

I'm not really interested.

That would be great.

He'd have instantly stopped and knelt down, one fist on the ground, hoping to be impervious to the officer's attacks. When this would have failed and he's in the back of the police car, he'd blame his predicament on his friends for not being team players.

I totally agree we need more moderators, just not more forum ninjas.

When Achronos said this I am assuming he meant we need more people who actively report posts for breaking rules, in that sense you are being your own moderator. Current ninjas sometimes complain that people don't report posts as much as they should, so until people report enough to necessitate more ninjas, adding more wouldn't be necessary.

That made a lot more sense in my head.

EDIT: Dang it, Odmicheal, you beat me to it. I thought I was being smart.

Well from the looks of this, it seems like these lite mods would have a decent amount of tools at their disposal to begin with. Therefore, you might as well make these guys regular moderators.
The perfect setup.

Mods that can ONLY lock threads. These mods would be named by the master forum ninjas by looking at only the people who have not violated the rules for at least a year and are of MYTHIC rank.

Then mods who can temp (1 - 12 hour) ban users for low problems like first time violations or if the moderator above has seen the user post too many locked threads. This can be handled again by master forum ninjas on users who have not violated the rules for at least a year and are of MYTHIC rank.

After the first two moderators we can start into the main forum ninjas like the normal FORUM NINJA and the MASTER FORUM NINJA.

The [REPORT] que can be seen by all above moderators.

Once Bungie announces its new IP, we'll get to see if they have any plans of "beefing" up the moderation on this site. Or, if Aerospace will have its own forums.

I think this is a pretty good idea. Shadow mods might start keeping the community on it's toes, even though I sometimes enjoy seeing the ongoing battle between the mods and the spam.

Except there are people with a higher trust rating that toe the line, and I wouldn't want them getting report queue priority.

As you can see, the amount of power they havenin their hands is very limited, but they are easily equipped to handle any trouble on the forum.

Locking and editing? You call that limited?!

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

Zero accountability. Awesome.

Right, because it totally wouldn't make sense to give members that have been here longer and members that have avoided bans report-queue-priority.

Veteran members usually have higher trust than the average members, and veteran members have been here long enough to know what constitutes as rule-breaking and what doesn't.

Furthermore, if you have a clean history, you're trust will also be a little higher than the average member. And the only way to have a clean history, is to not break the rules, and to do that, you must know the rules.

What I'm proposing is pretty simple.
The aggregate trust of all the members reporting a post should be organized in descending order starting with the highest-aggregate-trust report in the moderator-report-queue.

I've always liked the idea of shadow mods, I think it would be a good thing, but I'm not sure how they would pick one to be a shadow mod over a regular ninja.

It would be awesome if us regular members never knew if we were shadow mods!!!

Think about it: If our trust passes a certain line, we should automatically become shadow mods! Of course we wouldn't have as many features as proposed in the OP. But it could give us power we don't even know about. For example, whenever we report a post, that report is bumped to the top of the report-queue. Or whenever 2 or 3 shadow mods report a post, it immediately gets hidden (this will work the same way that the other posts get hidden when they get reported a lot except it'll require less members to make it hidden).

I don't think giving anybody the power to lock besides the current forum ninjas is a good idea .

Silencers still work.

Just need to give a few more people the access to them. Remember that The Rookie would have never made it out of New Mombasa without one.
