What do you think is Master Chief's fate by the end of this new trilogy? Will he retire, go missing in action, or actually die by the end?

He better die.

To die to save the universe, likely.

If that is about to happen then i'll prepare to cry

Maybe his destiny has something with the geas like the two Humans in Cryptum

You idiots...Spartans don't die. They're just missing in action.

Spartans never die, they are just missing in action.

Why does everyone want him to die? Seriously, I don't think he deserves that fate.

He'll slip back to Earth and retire and have SPARTAN babies with Linda.

The universe's Synchrons likely have something to do with it.

His fate will be to save the universe from this new threat. And then, he won't "die" per say, but perhaps "move on." I'm seriously getting the impression, with this talk of fate, synchrons, a living universe, Great Journey and transcendence that the afterlife, or some higher existence is a core aspect of Halo.

But the Chief's legacy lives on. The Universe may be born anew by his forthcoming actions, and in its rebirth, its rise from his ashes, the people of the universe will then know the true meaning of the phrase

Spartans never die.

I'd rather have him go down saving the Galaxy rather than old age.

He's going to save the universe (again) and everyone's going to live in a time of peace until Microsoft wants more money and they invent a new antagonist.

...Or Kelly, if I paired Chief off with anyone, honestly, it'd be Kelly, they make a great fit :P

Anyway, I don't think they'll kill him off. They might go with Roberto's idea about the Synchrons and all that, but I don't think they'll straight off kill him. I actually think the Great Journey option is a very highly likely option, and it'd be kinda sad to see him go, but that would truly be an awesome end to his career :D

  • 06.27.2011 7:32 PM PDT

This is why they should have let halo go. Leaving chief somewhere in cryo in the middle of space is the only thing you can do with him, aside from killing him off. At least that was slightly poetic.

  • 06.27.2011 7:34 PM PDT

I don't see them killing off the Chief. He is the cash cow that is Halo.

Noble 6 got killed off, no need to do that to the Chief as well. He'll go MIA or similar again.

  • 06.27.2011 7:58 PM PDT

How did I escape? With difficulty. How did I plan this moment? With pleasure.

Those looking for a group to join, I suggest you join Gamma Company Spartans (check my groups page). We are a friendly and active community always looking for more members.

The death of Master Chief is inevitable, and the death of him for something far greater would make the series complete, and awesome.

  • 06.27.2011 7:59 PM PDT

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I think a heroic death, at the end, would be best.

  • 06.27.2011 8:20 PM PDT

He's totally going to die in the process of saving the universe and fail miserably.

He will then load the last checkpoint and try again.
