He'll slip back to Earth and retire and have SPARTAN babies with Linda.

Linda was on the Pillar of Autum but it blew up.If if diden't well she was torn apart any way.she only lived because she was in cryo storage thats why she's not in the first room on halo. storage room,if she was unfrozen she would have died any way.I would know i read "almost" every book.and -blam!- the chief he dead

After Linda's supposed "death", she was placed in cryo sleep on the Autumn, her cryo pod was ejected when the Autumn was going to crash on the ring. The pod is later picked up by Master Chief in the Longsword he uses to escape Installation 04. After Halsey and other survivors were found on Reach, Halsey manages to resuscitate Linda. She even participates in several battles afterwards.

Dead or possibly retired.

But I am wondering what will happen to Cortana.

I believe John is going to die for the safety of all life in the Universe.

But Spartans never die, right?

  • 06.29.2011 10:50 AM PDT

He'll die. If he doesn't, everyone will demand more of Master Chief's story.

  • 06.29.2011 11:52 AM PDT

I would not like to see the Chief die he is wayyy to epic and is such in icon in gaming. If he dies I can honestly say I would be very said, but then again if he were to die it would probably be in an epic fight were he saves the universe and has to sacrifice himself to save all of humanity or at least something like that.

I wonder how much rage would appear if Master Chief actually didn't die in some glorious way.

He will find his way to our universe and come to earth, take off his armor and assume the identity of one Chuck Norris.

Why do so many people want Chief to die? :/ While Halo's story does not revolve around Master Chief, he is the central character of the Halo Universe, to me killing him off would be like killing off Link in the Legend of Zelda series or killing off Mario...

So why do so many people want him to die? It's actually a little bit disturbing actually >_> I've never encountered fans of any series actually asking and wish for one of the favorite characters to be killed :/

I could see that:
-You play through Halo 4, and he "dies" near the end or at the end of the campaign.
-Start of Halo 5, you're playing as a new character introduced earlier in Halo 4, and you train up and try to take up Master Chief's stead.
-In Halo 6, you play as the battle-hardened character of Halo 5 until the last few levels of the game, when Master Chief blasts through a wall to help you out.

Game Over. Sounds good right?

ya dude i swear if hes stabbed in te back by a grunt ima be pissed

  • 06.29.2011 11:25 PM PDT

He will be alive. Why kill the protagonist of a billion dollar franchise?

  • 06.29.2011 11:39 PM PDT

Long time listener,first time complainer.

After surviving 3 Halos, the Ark,the Flood and the Covenant I believe it would be somewhat poetic to have MC end up in one situation he can't survive. Also something like the end of Ghosts of Onyx eg.Kurt's death, would be kinda cool.Maybe Spartan ghosts.

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

Self-Sacrifice to save the universe.

A Spartan teammate most likely Fred will list him as MIA.
Or maybe at that point he's the last S-II so an S-III will do so.

Not likely, I don't ever get sick of characters I like or stories I really enjoy. I think killing Chief off would be the wrong idea, I really do.

The difference between killing Link in Zelda and killing the Chief is that the Master Chief's story is one, epic saga, where Link has a series of mini-adventures with no end. And at the end of the saga, what will he do?

If you've seen the Matrix *SPOILERS*

Neo sacrifices himself to save human kind, in a similar manner to a Messiah. The Master Chief would willingly do so to protect the universe if it came to it.

Halo isn't like Zelda, where there'll be hundreds of games for all eternity, never ending the story. 343i has said that they have the story planned out from beginning to end. It would be poetic for the Chief to die so the rest of us can live. That's his purpose.

Besides, he has no other reason to live but to fight. All of his friends are dead, and whatever life he could have had is gone. And all warriors die eventually. What matters is what they die for.

We're not asking for his death out of some sadistic need to see him die. We're asking for an emotional cap on the story.

I guess I'm in the minority but I would like to see a happy ending where he gets to retire and rest. Or at least train the next spartans...
