BANKAI!!!! TENSA ZANGETSU

This should not be a question out of all the Halo books and of all the Halo games john(Master Chief) has survived all the battles he has ever fought in no matter how bleak the situation or how the odds were stacked against him he fought and lived the Master Chief will not die and he was trained to be the perfect soldier he also wants to save anyone he can so he wont retire what will happen however Cortana will find a way to signal the fleets for their rescue or worst case scenario they both will remain MIA.

With correct grammar it would be you're, with an apostrophe. Idiot.

Spartans never die, they are just missing in action.

I'm stuck between MIA and dead. I think he'll become a forerunner and live forever, watching over the human race.

I think killing him would be too cliche frankly, I'd prefer going MIA or something and becoming essentially the same sort of legend as King Arthur, you know returning only when need is greatest or something like that, or a promise of eventual return or something. Though ascension or something similar to that would be cool as well.
I'm with the whole idea of him staying with the Forerunner, his destiny to remain at X location, and watch over Y. I think they could go about in which the player, along with his allies, don't actually know of his fate. Them come the time, he performs some heroic act that frees his comrades and allows them to escape, but remains behind. Cue the bewilderment, and upset, of the characters (it'd be quite moving to see Cortana, assuming she lives to the end, calling out to John), and player, as John is lost to them forever without any warning. Maybe some brief flashback can reveal the moment he's told what he has to do. Or his destiny, along with a tribute to all that he's done, can be narrated post credits as he stands firmly in an unknown location.

I'd like something like that.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

Coma him going MIA is only done for them to think of what he needs to do next. that is far more common than the main character dieing and staying dead.

Kill him and cortana, have his luck run out

"Time was your ally human. But now it has abandoned you. The Forerunners....have returned. And this tomb... is now yours". - The Didact

Let him join the Forerunners and Precursors and the UNSC will always assume he is MIA.

End

Or let him die in the most heroic way in the Halo verse that will be remembered forever.

BUT

I don't want him to join the UNSC in a happy end.

I feel that the next trilogy needs to be slightly darker and more true to john himself. They need to force him to make impossible decisions

Well, the more sombre spin on the iconic theme definitely hints at a darker direction for the series.

"It will not be we who reach Alpha Centauri, and the other nearby stars, it will be a species very like us, but with more of our strengths and fewer of our weaknesses, more confident, far-seeing, capable, and prudent. For all our failings, despite our limitations and fallibilities, we humans are capable of greatness."-Carl Sagan

I think he should sacrifice himself Neo style.

Lol, or show that luck isn't everything :P.

Meh *shrug* :/ It's not been that common in my experience, I've seen it happen more often that there's a "happy ending" or the hero dies than the eternal hero sort of thing. The only other instance of the idea that I can really think of is with King Arthur in his legends.
