I'm sure most of B.net is aware of the infamous thread in the Reach forum where I harshly presented my opinion, which subsequently resulted in a controversial mass of debate and criticism. The discussion was pretty intense, but after a few pages the OP had been falsely reported and the thread took a direction for the worst. I meant no harm when I posted the thread, yet I can understand why some posters may have felt offended.
When the OP was uncensored the following day, I was going to edit it and make it a little more constructive. To my dismay, I was unable to edit the post because it had been previously reported. When I try to edit it, I am graced by an error page instead. This is the second time this has happened to me, and to be quite honest it's getting to be really ridiculous.
The Reach forum in general is having a very difficult time differentiating from criticism (however harsh it may be) and trolling. This is giving posters like me who delight in discussing controversial topics a very hard time. Not only is it challenging for us to discuss our opinions without being deemed 'haters' or 'trolls', but now we're also being reported and ganged-up on and we're running the risk of bans. Somebody has to draw a line here--at what point is criticism considered too much? Conversely, at what point will the defensive support and praise from avid fans of Bungie and Reach be recognized for organized trolling and borderline spam?
Why can't we just discuss our opinions without pages and pages of the thread being about the posters therein rather than the topic presented? I'm beginning to wonder if alts should be encouraged, as sometimes it is the only way to discuss something without the topic being judged by its poster.
