Bla bla bla, it's no longer super easy to get kills with power weapons, and the game works better than before with team work, bla bla bla, I hate it.
Poor baby.Bla bla bla rockets in Reach are the easiest weapon in any FPS ever.
That's one of the reasons AL is around; Rockets USED to be the easiest most kill guaranteed weapon (though arguing the BR or the CE mag wouldn't be crazy talk), now you gotta think before you shoot; if you're not watching what the enemy is doing, you could end up wasting the shot on a well used armorlock, cupcake. There's a guy in front of you. You jump up to shoot a rocket down at him.
Do you shoot a rocket or not?
You can't tell what to do because the only indication of if a person has Armor Lock is on their back. AL doesn't breed thought or smart combat, it breeds people who suck (which, to be blunt, the only people defending this do suck, for the record) and it breeds randomness.
Yes, AL will be overcome by teamwork, but that doesn't change the illogicality and the loss of individual skill that's brought to the table.
For starters, the act of jumping with a rocket is enough to get someone to dump their armor lock. YOu don't have to fire every time you jump with it; the buttons are not linked.
Two, if they do, I have a secondary weapon. I don't pick up the rockets thinking, "Oh, I hope they come at me one at a time on foot so I can use this awesome weapon on one guy if I'm not in danger."
You can tell if a person is an AL user fairly easy; they jump and bounce a LOT less than most other players. This is especially noticeable in a vehicle heavy map; If you're charging at a guy who's looking at you and isn't actively dodging, the subsequent destruction is your own fault. This is because the second their feet are off the ground, AL is for not, and players experienced with it know this. (Note: they also do less bouncing in non-vehicle maps, where normal players might in order to more easily escape damage from rockets, grenades, or even just evade your aiming reticle.)
An individual who knows what they are doing can easily beat an AL user. I've even meleed some to death by avoiding the emp radius and shifting sporadically (not just two feet to the left, two feet tot the right) enough that they can't aim at me well enough to tap me. Shooting them is even EASIER (they can look, but aligning the invisible reticle properly, not so easy).
The -blam!-s in the armor are there, I'm just not the moron who goes "awww pretty!" every time he sees a shiny armor lock user. You have a great point i you're just gonna stand there and watch the person armor lock (and believe me people do that when i lock up) you deserve to die, but if you move around and avoid the emp then you're set.
