I haven't played Halo for PC ever, and I want some opinions on it.

Something smells fishy...

Halo Combat Evolved PC is an epic game which will forever be dear to my heart.

Its amazing, just like xbox version but with higher res and better controls ;)...you will need to adapt to leading your target thanks to a terrible netcode...but it's worth it

Sounds tasty.

Leading shots is the hardest thing I've ever had to get used to in my entire gaming career, but, after you get used to it, you'll actually find it great at times. It adds for an immense skill gap that hardly any other game has yet to match (That I've played anyways, which, is a lot of games)

Halo Reach PC über alles!

Don't make the mistake of playing Halo 2 Vista, play other PC games first. You will regret it when you come back to say how "good" it is...

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

The first game is a fantastic addition to the world of PC gaming. It's a port done almost perfectly.

The second s a piece of console noob trash that should have never seen a release. It should have stayed in the Xboxes of the children that played them and ventured no further.

Add me to your friends list if you haven't already. It's a lot more fun to play with people from The Maw and people I know than random noobs.

The only bad thing about Halo PC in my opinion is the netcode resulting in having to lead your shots. Yet despite this gameplay changing flaw, Halo PC is still incredibly fun.

I won't really bother talking about H2V, if you've read a few threads on this forum you will know what we think of it.

OK. When Gearbox was doing the port, halfway through Microsoft insisted they make the netcode modem-friendly. The result is a 1/4 quarter to half second lag between the time you "pull the trigger" on the client and your gun "fires" on the server. So you have to shoot ahead of where your target is heading i.e. "lead", because by the time your gun actually fires the target will not be where you are aiming.

It takes a while to learn and it is also affected by the lag of the server so the "lead" is different on different server. The best way to learn is get some headphones, shoot a little in front of the direction they are going, and listen for for the "hit tone" and watch to see their armor "flare".

Both Halo PC games are relatively fun. Good games, not great. Biggest problem with both is the shoddy net coding, Halo 1 more than 2 from my experience playing them. If youre just feeling nostalgic and want to reminisce theyre worth a try.

Halo 2 is more controller/console user friendly so if youre an old xbox player you might find it more enjoyable than the first. Not sure how easy it is to find legit copies of either at the moment. Halo 1 free online private server torrents are easily accessible (don't think I can go into more detail than that unfortunately). Not sure about Halo 2.

If you have access to an xbox or xbox 360 I say the better option is to just play those versions instead using programs like xbconnect and/or xlink kai to play online.

Welcome,

Halo PC is your best bet if you're planning on buying a PC halo. It still has a huge fanbase after these many years and you're sure to find hundreds of active servers.

Make sure to download Halo Custom Edition too for custom maps, firefight and even whole new campaigns!
