I think the drones are a cool consept with them being able to fly and all, but I allso think they were not put into the story very well. They are also weak fighters.

A little more (official)backstory would be nice.

Near the bottom.

They get annoying on Legendary, as it's seemingly impossible to get a single headshot on them. (Since there's so many, you want to dispatch as quickly as possible)

But they're cool enemies. Not much personality like the other baddies, but good nonetheless. There's nothing wrong with the occasional mindless killing machine.

idk, i think they are ridiculously annoying, and an easy enemy to beat...apart from the grunt, drones i think are very pointless enemies...first the arbiter, now the drones, machines, and sentinel beam...what next bungie, what next?-blakey ; (

I'd love harming my enemies to death with butt strokes. XD

The only thing more annoying than a jackal sniper on legendary is having to choose between fighting a swarm of the buggers (and get owned) or fight the sniper(and get owned).

I'm glad that I get to wail on drones as both the Arbiter and the Master Chief, because buggers are annoying (as I'm assuming they were meant to be.) The whole Brute/Bugger/Jackal/Prophet thing couldn't make me happier as cannon fodder for Humans/Elites/Grunts/Hunters.

I know they are near the bottom but are they below or above grunts? and the same question for jackals.

It would be better if you could hear them communicate through high pitched squeals. I know they have them now but its pretty poor that when you kill one its just a small kitten like noise. If they had a squeal equivalent to the roar of an elite when they died, then it would be good.

"Hey! I heard you fellas taste.... just like chicken!!"

I like them a great enemy asset, but they are a pain in the ass thanks that they can fly and with needlers they are so damn annoying to fight against also its difficult to get a headshot at those buggers, especially at heroic or legendary, luckily, they are weak against the shotgun and dual weapons (dual needler or plasma rifles works well)

@silver_titanium

they are insects after all, adding roars ala the brutes and elites would just sound lame =p

I said, if they had a squeal equivalent to a roar of an elite when the drones die that would be more realistic. Meaning a loud squeal when they die, not an elite roar and not a small squeal but a loud squeal.

"Hey! I heard you fellas taste.... just like chicken!!"

I understand and yes I think that would work very well ;)

Oh lol I just thought a thought, what about giving the elites the voice of the grunts and give the grunts the voice of the elites? That would be hilarious =D

Whispering marine - "you'll give away our position!"

I didn't like em really. They didn't have much individuality to set them apart as previous Covies have, they were kind of non-descript. They could just as well have been flying jackals or whatever.

i seem to remember the official backstory of them being in the same class as Engineers, in a way. while Engineers work in the interior of the ship, fixing things like circuits and stuff, while Drones exist in zero-grav space, where they can fix the exterior of ships. i assume they were first found in space, perhaps on some asteroids in hive or something.

its explained that the Drones can only fly for a few minutes because their wings are not for atmospheric propulsion. apparently.

that the Covenant is tossing them into battle with such fearsome weapons as the plasma pistol, might show us how close they are themselves to losing this war.
