Okay, when the Halo series finishes (or if it's already finished), and a new game/series comes out, will Halo topics take place in the Underground, or will there be a Halo general forum? I'm asking this because honestly, I wouldn't be too hot about all of the Halo threads infesting the Underground. Of course, the new game/series will be the hot topic, but Halo will most likely still be running strong, and, in my opinion, I'd rather see the Underground return to talking about oldschool games and Bungie.

If the gallery and voting booth don't get updated, that would leave room for two extra forums if they were deleted. Maybe Halo could end up in 3 forums: Halo, Halo2, and Halo3 or campaign, multiplayer, optimatch or some other combinaiton.

Well, once people get over Halo, bungie.net will probably "languish in mild obscurity for thousands of years", unless they can produce another quality title, eg. Phoenix. I am presuming when/if Halo 3 is released, two forums dedicated to said game will be made. One covering Multiplayer, the other Campaign, ala Halo 2.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

Well any developer who can't continue to produce quality games will slowly die, so I don't see why you're making the distinction.

Well unfortunately, if there was some way that The Underground would be forced to only talk about OldSkool and Bungie, then not much discussion would take place. So I think that a general discussion of the Halo series would still take place in The Underground, just as a general discussion of Myth or Marathon would. I wouldn't worry much about the new non-Halo game (because Bungie can't make Halo forever, and I wouldn't want them to) taking over The Underground, because said new non-Halo game would would definately get its own forum. Now people would still make off-topic posts about it in The Underground, but there's not a whole lot anyone can do about that because people seem to like to just click the first link they see and post there or assume that "Bungie General" means "Anything that I feel like talking about."

There are five forums related to the Halo universe and related discussion. There's no reason to direct Halo-related discussion to the Underground.

So would that mean that as a new game is released, there would be even more forums?

-Quaere verum.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

It could actually mean a number of things, but logically your theory would certainly be plausible.

So would that mean that as a new game is released, there would be even more forums?

I would think that for the sake of efficiency, a few of the forums would be renamed and converted. It would be most efficient to compress the Halo 2 forums into one (possibly two), and make a couple of new forums for the next project.

I don't think that anytime soon Halo topics will be moved to the Underground. Even if Bungie released Halo 3 and moved on to another series would Halo just be set down. I'd imagine that Halo wouldn't be considered Oldschool until 5 or so years after the end of the series. And even then I'm not sure if they would just crumple Halo up into one gigantic forum for a year or two first.

In short, the future of the forums is not something we need to concern ourselves with. It's just so inefficient to concern oneself over something that really shouldn't be thought about at the time.

I was just posting this because, as a new game comes out, the Halo series may be considered "Old Skool" and then discussion would take place in the Underground. I mean, I love the Halo series, but should the current Halo community stick around for that long, there is the possibility of a lot more concentrated complaining. But, of course, I could be wrong, and Halo wouldn't have too much of a negative impact at all in the Underground (should Halo discussion ever be moved there)

Mabian: Yeah, I see your point, but it was just a thought.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

In my opinion they could just incorporate the Maw and Library into one forum to free up space. New Mombassa, Zanzibar, and Optimatch could stay in place for a while considering Halo2 is going to be on Vista. Really though we will just have to wait and see what the "next project" brings us. Until then I will enjoy watching all the specultation in the Forums.

* I already know what the next project is. I will give you guys a heads up. It involves Shishka and a chicken cannon. *

O_O you looked at your friends balls when "he" sat on your head O_o

I think they should put New mombosa and zanzibar together, just they should make different sections of the same forum for them. The new games/projects will most likely get new forums to their names and the cycle of people starting with on topic discussions and then going to totally random stuff will happen again, just with a new game/ series as the new relevant topic

Stick with The Library and The Maw, us Halo PC player have a totally different discussion than the Xbox folk (just as Halo 2 PC will surely have a different forum than Halo 2 Xbox) However I will say outright that Halo 2 PC only needs 1 forum, just like the Maw. If anything Halo 2 XBOX should be consolidated into just New Mombasa (one Halo 2 XBOX forum) and Zanzibar as well as Optimatch should be done away with. Not only are they losing discussion value (Though I must say, I think they lost that value on the very-first day) but Optimatch will soon have absolutely no purpose as Bungie will eventually cease to update Halo 2's playlists (if they haven't stopped already). Besides, both forums are mostly filled with pointless discussion. In high-quality forums such as these they have no place here.

Aha! I now understand why the argument about forums of Halo 2 PC can't be settled! Both sides constantly believe that their side is more important than the other. Those who own Halo 2 on the Xbox believe the forums are great as they are, while those on the PC believe that only one forum is needed for all of the discussion. Meanwhile, many Xbox owners believe that Halo 2 PC discussion can easily be fit into the same forum as discussion for Halo PC.

It's all so simple now. I can now see why the discussion won't be settled...
