I guess one could say I'm a sucker for "Official" threads, but regarding the Bungie Swag Bags...for -blam!-'s sake, people.

I've seen several of these threads in the past 24 hours, and it's getting a bit ridiculous. Right now, there are eight threads regarding Swag Bags on the front page, several of which were created by the same person. (Seriously, Ken?)

Alright, I know it's just a temporary thing, and I know I can simply ignore them, but c'mon; you have to admit that it's getting a little bit out of hand.

Seeing as the promotion is almost over, in future instances where there could potentially be a swarm of repeat topics for a fixed period, can someone (employee, moderator) just create an "official" thread for general questions/comments/complaints?

UPDATE: In the short time this thread has existed, two more threads regarding Swag Bags have been created.

It's better than bumping the old ones, right?

Five years older and wiser
The fires are burning, I'm fire, never tire
Slay warriors in the forests, and on hire

This is from now on, the official thread.

I agree with you entirely though. One official thread for the promotion and thats it.

Yeah, i've wanted official threads for certain things for a while now but the mods didn't seem to like the idea.

You should be glad they never listened to him when he was complaining that being able to create seven threads a day was too little and that it should either be raised or there should be a way to "discount" past threads.

That guy likes posting far too much ...

As much as I agree, let's try not to make this thread about a single user. I'd remove it from my OP, but it's already been quoted a couple times already, so I don't see the point.

But yeah, official threads: we need them in situations like this.

Oh yeah definatly, I haven't been active here for all that long but I've already seen multiple scenarios where a forum was just flooded with the most recent "news" drowning out all other forms of discussion.

I agree. It just sucks when something unexpected happening (a couple swag bags going on sale this morning) everyone who has a question starts a thread instead of looking on the front page for a topic. I support the creation of an "official" thread.

everybody listen to mac2po he is 100% right

After a while, repeat threads should be counted as spam, that is at least what I think. I'm not just referring to the Swag Bags threads, but future threads too.

It's not like any of the other threads have been bumped off the first page either.

No excuses.

Oh yeah I hate that.

I mean I get it, you're lazy, you don't wanna use the search bar. But come on when there are threads about the exact same issue right in front of you the least you could do is check them out! It even takes a hell of a lot less effort than actually creating a new thread and posting it.

The only time I think multiple threads on the same subject are acceptable is when a large, conclusive point in the OP is made that warrants a new thread instead of just a post in another thread, like SonicJohn's Aerospace theory, that was long and thought out enough that it didn't just belong in a "What is Aerospace?" thread but it warranted it's own.

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

I second this notion. So much so in fact that I think I should make a thread about it!

Great idea!
It's not like a thread already exists or anything!

Not that I bothered checking or anything ...

Anyone else find it irony in this? A swag-bag thread about complaining about too many swag bag threads. :P

But yea, one offical swag bag thread would have been nice. Oh well.

Well it's technically not a swag bag thread, it's a thread complaining about how when a recent, large event, happens that the forums get flooded with threads about that subject.

Drowning out all discussion.

Report mor- wait... wrong thread. What are the chances?

I can see why people may be getting annoyed, every ten minutes or so a new thread seems to be created about the swag bags. An employee made FAQ might help in answering questions and reducing clutter, but as this forum has such a small range of discussion topics and a low activity level I would consider this a minor annoyance rather than a problem requiring attention.

It's true that it's not exactly a pressing issue but it is a minor annoyance we could do without.
