Hey,

I realize HaloCE was a Gearbox produced and published game, but Bungie still has a stake in its future as well. Support for HaloPC/CE has been lackluster when compared to today's FPS market, and its not because Gearbox can't develop a game. I'd appreciate it if Bungie and Micrsoft took a long look at what Halo PC was -- a pretty big failure considering what it could have been, it COULD have been bigger than CounterStrike, it could have been the biggest game ever, why wasn't it? Because of the lackluster support -- where Halo PC and CE stand now -- Halo PC is still holding strong at 2500 players, but HaloCE is dying and we can't let this happen -- and what Halo PC and CE are about to become -- deserted. You know why? Because of Halo2.

I get the feeling Microsoft and maybe Bungie thought they could shoot this game off, walk off with some more money to pump into Halo2 without realizing just how big this game could have been. You guys at Bungie have an unimaginably large market untapped with Halo PC and CE. But they aren't dead just yet. In all seriousness, you STILL have a largely untapped market with Halo PC, so help Gearbox support it.

Thanks,
Colin

It'd be lovely to see some sort of response from bungie. Just really want the game to be the best it can. Its still gonna fade out when Halo 2 comes out so you corperate guys dont need to fret about that. Even when its fading though with the fix support it will have a strong holding.

I am another strong supporter of Halo CE. I have and still am doing everything in my power to make Halo CE live. I interviewed the CEO of gearbox (Randy Pitchford) to get some answers about the future of Halo CE.

The interview will be public on haloimpulse.com shortly

anyways, we need all the support we can get to make halo CE live, so those who help, thanks

We also need to get the gearbox forums energized with some positive stuff.

I've read the interview, and personally talked with Randy -- perks of being a moderator on their forums. Gearbox is really a good company with their heart in the right place but they're really getting the shaft when it comes to Halo PC and CE. Gearbox has been there and supporting the game since the start, if not through patching through the community. Afaik, this is the only place you can even reach Bungie with questions on HaloPC and CE, ridiculous. Gearbox employees have their emails in the open, go on our forums and look. I used to be a regular fan fed up with this support crap, but guess what? Once you see it from my perspective its a different ballgame. I have 5 AIM windows blinking right now, all from people who would do anything to get a patch from Gearbox, but Gearbox can't do it alone, they need Bungie's approval still, they just don't need to go through the lengthy test cycle.

Lets get real about the situation and start talking to the people who are really in charge, and sadly, the people who are really in charge haven't been taking all the flak for HaloPC and CE, Gearbox has.

Sawnose appears to be related to the Halo PC testing department in the 256MB/SP2 Graphics sticky at the top of the forum. Maybe that's a starting place, as I've never seen someone from Bungie reply to a normal thread in The Maw.

The point is not to get them to reply, the point is to get them to do something ;) All they have to realize is that we're still here and alive, just on life support. Bungie can either decide to put the nail in the coffen or help us back to full health. All they need to do is read, and if they don't even read their own forums, theres definitely something wrong.

Yes bungie needs to be involved in this. I said in another thread Halo 2 mode or not this game is still Halo and needs their attention. Im sure that if they had the time to view forums they would have time to talk to gearbox about this.

I outwardly support Halo CE. Halo is great fun, and all it needs is a patch to bring in those players who are not content with its apparent weaknesses (some say netcode, others say giltches...etc). Halo CE must be helped by Bungie, they must allow GB to set Halo CE on the right path.

Hey all I own and operate the gaming community www.epgamers.com and the server company, www.EPGServers.com

We have been supporting HALO PC/ CE for a while now. We have expended over 4 Terabytes of bandwidth hosting the CE download, and have prodded the commiunity to come up with fixes and addons for HALO.

Gearbox seems to be severly hamstrung, and is unable to affect any change in the making of new patches for CE.

Some issues we are expreiencing:

Not all graphics cards show water.
Cannot make custom gametypes because of missing strings.
Netcode is more frustrating than PC for many.
No player voting, no map voting.
More detailed Server Log is needed.
Game takes a long time to load with custom maps

========================================================\
Now the community has stepped in and solved some of these issues.

Kybo Ren and Zion recently made a custom gametype fixing utility

Monoxide C is making a product that has
Player Voting
Map Voting
Stats Tracking
Admin Database
Taunts
Web based remote RCON
AFK Kicking

Kornman has made the HEK with no restrictions.

And there is much more coming down the pipe.

But there will NOT be without a patch. Randy Pitchford has said that when CE has 1000 players at a steady clip, GB will issue a patch. Unfortunately, CE will NEVER evolve to that without a patch. Truly a paradox.

We are asking that you lift your restrictions over them and save this great game.
If bandwitdh is an issue, EPG Servers will donate 3 Terabytes a month of bandwitdth to help disseminate it.

I hope this reaches your satisfaction.

Sincerely,
Nathaniel

Colin,

Shifting the blame to Bungie is one side of the story -- Gearbox's. Just because that's the side of the story that you're most familiar with doesn't mean it's true. You might want to rethink some of your assertions.

Here is the side of the story that matters most. My side :)
I bought Halo PC to play online and it started off pretty rocky but that is expect when a game is first released. After patiently waiting and several patches I am disssapointed with the lack of support from the developer. I am furious with the company responsible for the lack of support from the developer. I was lead to believe that Halo PC would have editing tools and that potential for user made modifcations was huge. The reality is that an entirely different program was released with tools to fill this 'niche'. This entirely different program (Halo CE) is 'unsupported' and not in any way compatible with the program I purchased. So now that Bungie has taken down all of their Halo PC servers I think it's safe to say that both Halo PC and Halo CE are officially 'unsupported'. I have to wonder how Bungie sees support, because it is a 2 way deal. If Bungie doesn't support the fans, the fans sure won't support Bungie.

I agree, I support Halo CE and think it could become one of the greatest PC games if only we had a little more support from Bungie, MS, and Gearbox.

im only play halo ce because of custom maps. but i noticed something. there are only like 2 custom maps playing!!!!!! There used to about 20 to 30 servers that had custom maps, like about a month ago and everything was quite well, and halo ce was growing. but now the only map i see thats custom is new mombosa! and i usually saw wartorn cove, and a bunch of other maps but halo ce is dying! why! it just doesnt make sense if we were to all of a sudden bring a large group of ppl over to halo ce, that would be awsome!!!! we cant let ce die, I want it to stay alive until at least halo 2 comes out. maybe there could be a custom edition like thing for halo 2. but until then, we need to keep this awsome game alive!

Thanks to all the supporters.
Nark 04 aka !!!Hamoos!!!... which is my halo ce name I play with.

From the looks of it, it looks like Microsoft doesn't want to have anything to do with Halo PC. Not to mention they probably didn't even wanted Halo to come out to PC after that LOONNGG 4 years of waiting for it to be release in the mist of alot of better games out there.
