don't understand this sort of stuff, how come games always get slated before their launch? who knows what Halo 4 is going to be like, it could very well be the best of the bunch...?

and the story finished? who gave the OP the right to decide that? the story is finished when the creators say it is finished, not a second before and not a second after, Halo 3 was left intentionally open at the end to continue the saga, who cares if the enemy isn't the Covenant, who cares is the Flood (who were terrible to be honest!) aren't an enemy?

Halo is a rich, deep and ever evolving story that could go on for many many more years, both games and novels, so much rich history and mythology surrounding the games, there is the story of the Forerunners, what happens to the Sangheili, the remains of the Covenant, the Flood and so on. its nowhere even close to finished!

No need, it is perfectly fine as it is. 343 could come up with something different, they do have fantasy after all and they are using it...

The ending to H3 left people with so many questions that it HAD to be carried on and i think at the end of this trilogy MC will die in an awesome cutscene just like noble 6 did.

I'm sorry sir, but I have to disagree. It didn't have to be continued. The open ending was a good solution to "killing off Chief". Think about it: Chief and Cortana are flying in space, lost, they might land on a planet and kick ass.
But well not knowing what happened to him and being able to guess... well that's awesome, right?

I honestly dont know why they called it halo 4. Its so cliche and i dont see what its gonna have to do with the events of the first 3 games. Should have subtitled it instead like Halo: The Forerunner or whatever.

I hope deep down my heart that 343 will subtitle it anyhow. Halo 4,5,6 sounds scary. And it's not even Halo 7! And with Reach and ODST it will be 8 games! I swear to God, if they plan on really naming it Halo 4 - they should make a tetralogy instead!

The Human-Covenant War may be over, but the universe is certainly not finished. Mendicant Bias has plans for the Chief

@Everyone saying the ending to H3 was good:

1) "Like water I ebb and flow; defeat is simply an addition of time, A sentence to a fate I never deserved but you....imposed."

--Gravemind, last level of Halo 3

2) "And so here, at the end of my life
I do once again betray a former
master. The path ahead is fraught
with peril. But I will do all I can
to keep it stable - keep you safe.
I'm not so foolish to think this
will absolve me of my sins. One life
hardly balances billions.

But I would have my masters know
that I have changed.

And you shall be my example."

--Medicant Bias, last level of Halo 3.

3) The entire Legendary ending

4) The entire existence of the Precursors.

5) We have yet to inherit the Forerunners belongings or Mantle.

6) From the Office of Dr. William Arthur Iqbal

7) The ending of The Return

8) Admiral Cole's unknown fate

9) The as of yet unknown existence of the Ancient Human race.

10) The Assembly

11) Iris

All of these things seem to suggest something more is going on behind the scenes then just a power hungery Prophet and a...hungry space zombie.

And all of you are content to sit by and have none of these questions, none of these loose ends, answered? Why else do you think Dr. Iqbal's letter was published in the Evolutions book, yet went completely unnoticed in the glossary section? Why was it left so mysterious?

Or why were (allegedly) human ruins shown in Legends and then later talked about in the aforementioned letter if not to be further expanded upon?

Why is it so many of the Evolutions stories were left ambiguous? The Return, The Impossible Life, and From the Office?

Or, why would Bungie introduce the Assembly? You do know they planned to do Halo 4 before doing Reach? But they didn't want to open doors they couldn't close. So instead, perhaps they gave us one small piece of the puzzel, in order to set us up for a project they knew 343 was working on: Halo 4.

It just seemed obvious to me that 343 was setting us up for something, and that something is Halo 4, the start of what may well be the last trilogy in the Halo series, that will answer all the questions.

ok back to original here...

Soo think about it... if you don't wan't to halo 4 come out, then go and pretend that it didn't and live you'r life...

If you can't forget the fact that there will be halo 4, then don't buy it....

"Time was your ally human. But now it has abandoned you. The Forerunners....have returned. And this tomb... is now yours". - The Didact

Lots of people don't even understand the scope of overall story, they can't see that something large behind the scenes is going one which has been hinted alot of Cryptum, iris, terminals and other sources.

The new trilogy might become the most important storyline of the Halo verse as all that has been started in the times of the Precursors will be finished.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

*raises hand*

Yeah, I'm skeptical because of some of the recent things 343 has said. Frankie said he wouldn't mind seeing things like ilovebees being canon, so time traveling AIs are canon now despite Bungie sayign it wasn't. They also, probably unintentionally, decided to make the Spartan-II Class-II canon despite it being labelled too expensive and shut down in favor, secretly of course, for the Spartan-III Program.

I get Halo 4 is a new story, but I have the right to be skeptical.

noone said you don't hawe the right... even a bug has his rights to be or not to be

From a story perspective, you have to be sceptical, that's the natural process with any game. Sure, a developer can create a wonderful story with interesting characters, but getting that formula right every time is difficult. So, we as fans, have to wonder if 343 Industries can produce a good story with action, emotion and drama. Of course, nobody's saying Halo 4 will be terrible, but it's no crime to speculate they mightn't be as successful as Bungie.

I feel as though Bungie have done a great job with the Halo franchise, and I bet 343 Industries can do just as good - Halo 4 is their first independent production, however. Indeed, their previous projects have all been collaborations with other developers; that in itself could be a reason to be sceptical.
