Sorry, I can't hear them over the sounds of Modern Warfare 3 on my Turtle Beaches.

Anyone see this in bookstores lately? I found it just today at Barnes and Noble and I found it to be a much better read than the Halo Encyclopedia.

It covers - and even designates - major characters, weapons, vehicles, etc. of the Halo universe. Even certain Multiplayer Maps!

However, I'm not too keen as to why Multiplayer Maps were included and disappointed that certain characters and wildlife were omitted from this book.

But nonetheless, it was a good read.

It's out already? I thought it didn't come out until early July. Was there any new information that you saw in it or did it essentially cover everything we already knew?

Generally covers what we already know.

It also adds class and model names for various Halo Wars vehicles like the Locust and Gremlin.

That was the only new information that stook out to me in my initial reading. I'll take another look later.

Yeah. They should leave the multiplayer map crap in the actual game guides. I'm guessing having this and the Encyclopedia together will give you pretty good coverage of Halo canon, though from the preview pages alone it looks like 343 has yet to incorporate any of the info from Cryptum. What characters are left out exactly? Is it mostly the really minor ones? And there hasn't actually been a great deal of wildlife in Halo canon anyway, has there? Reach was really the fist game to feature ambient wildlife aside from the bird things in Halo 2, and beyond that there's like a handful of animals mentioned in the books.

Anyway, I'm pissed. Amazon has had it in stock since at least yesterday, but there's no indication my pre-order will ship anytime soon. If Amazon really prioritizes normal orders over pre-orders, I won't be pre-ordering from them again.
