I've always thought that leaving the galaxy was their "great journey". And that they only achieved this write before the Flood finished off their stronghold at the Ark. I mean we don't know if the Flood ever made it to the Ark and if they did, did they or did they not kill the last of the Forerunners. I think under desperate situations they could have pulled off saving themselves by abandoning the Ark and the rest of the Milky Way to head somewhere else.
And I'm not trying to guess the entire plot a new Halo trilogy, just trying to get a gist of what may happen.
that was a philosophical reference only made by the didact.
The flood never made it to the ark hence OB stopping him before he got there *sigh*. Though origins seems to hint that something happened after that..
Again the forerunners didn't leave the galaxy they just left the orion arm
And again, I'm going to ask anyone for the Encyclopedia quote that says this, that it was only the arm, and once again, I am probably not going to get an answer.
Leaving the Orion Arm and only it defies logic.
1) Why would they leave just the Orion Arm? I know you may believe that the Forerunners controlled only the Orion Complex, but it does state in Cryptum that Born was simply born there, it made no mention that it was the only thing they controlled. Leaving Orion is just a field trip to them.
2) The Flood spanned the entire galaxy.
3) They would have all been killed by Halo.
4) Why is it we've never seen them? After 100,000 years, I'm sure they would have reconstructed their Empire.
5) The Encyclopedia says they left the entire Galaxy. Now you and others say that earlier on it says they left Orion. Outside of the fact I'm obviously going to ask yet again where does it say this, I've looked and never seen it , technically, the latest canon in Halo regarding their disappearance states it was the galaxy.
As per the rules, if two things contradict each other on the same level of canon, the later always overules the former.
6) Born on at least one occation makes mention the very real possibility that he was in another galaxy at the end of Cryptum using Forerunner tech.
7) He also, earlier in the book, says that the Forerunners never expanded beyond the Milky Way merely because they never felt the need too, not out of lack of technology. "We were quite fine with the resources of this galaxy"

I returned my right after i got it since it has nearly everything halopedian has including errors. i am sure you will get the quote if you use the search bar.
1. Nearly everything about the forerunners is exaggerated. in cryptum you learn that they controlled pockets of the galaxy not the entire galaxy itself. Thus lefting the orion arm still stands.
2. I find this slightly more believable but still doubt it. They were said to have been gone for 10,000 years before coming back which means they could have taken over roughly 33 minor galaxys around us if we are to apply that timeframe.
And that does not fit whatsoever. The amount of numbers they would have had would be dozens of times over more than enough to overwhelming the forerunners into full scale war instead of the secret war they were having.
3.It stated they left after re-seeding
4.Because they are staying away not to mention you can not rebuild an empire in 10,000 years back to that level. look at humanity and the prophets.
5. it is in the encyclopedia. it states they left the galaxy then it says they left the arm. The arm is far more plausible once you consider the factors and the fact cortana implies the LP is in our galaxy.
6. um no he doesn't they we drifting out of the galaxy until they ended up at the ark.
7.Again bornsteller was proven wrong by didact several times during the book so i wouldn't bank on a 12 year old forerunner. though leaving the galaxy when not fighting the flood would be easier when you aren't fighting them.
If it took 1,000 years for them to make the ark and the first batch of halos it would take them awhile to plan out how to move to the next galaxy and make the tech for it.
