they TOLD us that they weren't revealing their new game haha

Posted by: SaintansSoilder
Wow,that's incredibly disappointing.

So i guess we know even less about their new game.

Well they originally said they were going to announce the future of Bungie on Bungie day.

Which you would think something as hyped as Aerospace would be a new game instead of an Apple feature that would only effect a small part of the community.

Its not a bad idea but I wish they wouldn't have had it hyped as much.

Yeah, kinda odd with the T-Shirts and all. Glad I didn't buy one.

creative freedom and the resources they need, like access to the Bungie.net platform and an audience with the incredible Bungie communityI'd very much like some clarification on what exactly this means for developers.

Me also, especially what "the bungie.net platform" entails, because at the moment, on the face of it, it's really just a bunch of archaic forums and halo-specific stats, video and file packages. Just how scalable and adaptable are bungie.net's features?

I take the last part of that statement as, 'You can release your mobile game to thousands of screaming teenagers who will tell you how much it sucks'

Yes. Maybe some sort of access to Bungie's servers for leaderboards, stats etc for the games?

Fascinating!

This. I'm glad I have an iPhone, as that seems to be what Bungie likes developing mobile games/applications for.

Yeah, it'll definitely be interesting to hear more about it.

You and me both.

I guess I knew it wasn't a game, but still disappointing in that it's not really something for everyone.

Since organized communities are usually more enjoyable, you should take your time to read the forum rules to save yourself some trouble and help keep the forums clean :-)

The only downside to this whole announcement is that I don't have an iPhone, or anything close :/ I'll get one eventually anyway, so this is really great for a new user, for sure.

That's going to be amazing! With so many fresh minds out there all working through Bungie's connections, nothing but good will result. Whether or not it's disappointing for some, this is damn cool.

Actually Daz, now that I think about it;

They already helped with Crimson by doing the proper paperwork etc to file for trademarks and stuff.

So, it'll less hoops to jump through when you market/release your game.

For Narnia!

Just because they have a iPad on the website doesn't mean it's Apple products only. They said mobile platforms, Bungie would make a massive mistake if they made it iDevices only.

Actually, if you read it really carefully, it does say "Bungie Aerospace was created to help small, independent developers launch their mobile and social games.".

When you take that and add-in the "Bungie.net platform", the first thing that comes to my mind is games that are playable right on Bungie.net itself.

Bungieville, anyone?

Edit: Actually, now that I think about it, the beta surveys may be something that developers could use to find their target audience, or vice-versa; the target audience find games they like.

Pimps at Sea.

One can only dream.

Edit: Also I don't really like the idea of B.net having games inbuilt to site. Just an opinion.

Basically its Bungie way of developing mobile applications and games with other software companies. Who knows what phase 2 will be for Aerospace. Although its pretty awesome.

I'm thinking Bungie Aerspace is a "Hub" of connections and networking that helps other companies develop their games. Their like the grandpa that knows everything :P

Think before you post

I think the only thing I can take from this is that its incredibly disappointing...

We waited nearly a year for this and all it is, is; "Oh, we're gonna help make some iPhone games now."

Just a bit of a let down, you know?

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

This isn't bad news, but I'm not excited.
