<------Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4 emblem.

If the glaring and salient Bungie Aerospace sign on the front page hasn't caught you, a link is here:
Aerospace News Article

The official website for Aerospace is here:
Aerospace Official Website

Perhaps a let down, Bungie has denied the existence of a new project developed internally by them, but are:

Posted by: Bungie
It means that Bungie, through Bungie Aerospace, is partnering with a select group of independent developers to help them make their games great.

Bungie Aerospace is allowing Bungie to expand into the mobile market and gain stronger control - perhaps this is the reasoning behind the partnership with Activision. By establishing such a partnership, not only could Bungie potentially make a lot of money, they can distribute Aerospace to more developers and both groups will have access to more resources. An example of such a game is "Crimson" [codename] developed by Harebrained Schemes through the use of Aerospace.

In summary, Bungie's goal with Aerospace is:

Posted by: Bungie
Today, Bungie is fully focused on bringing the best gaming experiences to millions of gamers worldwide through the creation of their next big action universe.

Halo 3 Sonnet

We are the Bungie community, and thus, by definition, we are given the right to complain about any work that Bungie produces, mentions, or even thinks about, with no limits set by knowledge, logic, common sense, or understanding of sarcasm!

EDIT: Nevermind, missed other thread.

Exact science, is not an exact science.

Good one, need a sea change around here, some new paint on the front page would be nice!

I heard they were adding Colour Effects to Armour Lock? is this true, great news if it is!!

....

They have basically gone out and started funding projects they believe to be great ideas that need help "Getting off the ground" lol cwutididthar?

Anyways, Bungie Aerospace is pretty much Bungie's publishing arm, I'm so happy to see these guys pushing in all directions.

It seems like they are moving into a Bethesda type model, where Bethesda it's self is still developing games but also publishes except Bungie would not own any part of the company it decides to help and also Bungie actually has a whole seperate entity title for their publishing arm.

This will be interesting to see how Bungie handles being the publisher with indies, im sure they'll do well, I do hope we get some specifics as to how the ownership of IP with any indie studio would work out, but knowing Bungie, im sure it's simply about spliting the profits from said games and not owning any IP those studios develop.

This might be the most respectful move I've seen a game developer or publisher make in a long time.

Bungie has come a long way since the days of Gnop! As a studio they know what it means to be a independent developer and the massive -blam!-hole it can be at times. That being said, the resources and help they got for Halo via Microsoft ultimately propelled them into the stratosphere and put their name up there with the big boys like Valve and Blizzard.

Going independent again, Bungie has basically decided to return the favor to the new class of indie developers: Developers on the mobile front.

It is a known fact, that despite a few great games, iOS game development is a piece of -blam!-.

Its nice to see Bungie step in to try and make things right, essentially making them a mobile phone game publisher.

Good on ya, Bungie. I'd expect a bunch of idiots will flame ya due to them being idiots but the respect I already had for you just got increased tenfold.

Here we are again bro... Just you and me. Same kind of moon same kind of jungle. Real number 10 remember... Whole platoon, 32 men chopped into meat... We walk out just you and me, nobody else. Right on top huh? Not a scratch... Not a f**kin' scratch. You know who ever got you. They'll come back again. And when he does I'm gonna cut your name right into him... I'M GONNA CUT YOUR NAME RIGHT INTO HIM!

Bungie Aerospace = Yawn

It might be a great thing to do, but they shouldn't have hyped it up and made us think its their new game. Its kind of disappointing actually. They should't have had that site up for more than a year, leaving fans hungry for answers, just for this.

  • 06.30.2011 6:54 AM PDT

Didn't know it was legal for Bungie to spy on its customers' computers

I cant believe they were selling shirts about this crap. What a scam!

Wasn't expecting it to be the new game anyway. It's a cool move by them, but its worthless to me. If they're doing indie games, why not throw in support for indie devs on XBLA and PSN? Regardless, congrats on this new venture.

They never said it was a game. Also, does 'Bungie Aerospace' sound like a game to you?

Seriously? Why were people thinking this was their new game? They said at the start of all the Bungie Day celebrations that they would NOT be revealing their new game, and then they later went on to say they'd be revealing Bungie Aerospace to the world. Aside from that, what game uses the development studio's name in the title? Even in a development code name?

  • 06.30.2011 7:07 AM PDT

It sounds like a project. Many games have names like "Project Horizon" before a name is set for them. BTW I just spewed Project Horizon out of nowhere. A good example would be the now canceled Project Offset and I also believe Halo used to be named something something like this before it was called Halo.

I'm a bit disappointed in what Aerospace turned out to be, really. I have no interest in 'social' games and the like for the iphone; these games have the depth of a piece of paper.

  • 06.30.2011 7:11 AM PDT

What a waste....

Huh.

We all missed the point.

There's a Day of Reckoning Fast Approaching ....... Be ForeWarned

The Coming of the Saviour is at Hand

and how does this affect the price of coffee in Brazil ?

  • 06.30.2011 9:09 AM PDT

What a let-down.

So I guess their next game is gonna be lame-punk.

  • 06.30.2011 9:20 AM PDT

I'm going to sound like a massive fanboy here, but I don't care, I gotta say it.

Bungie, you are awesome. Between all the fun I've gotten out of Halo, the awesome community (with obvious, unfortunate exceptions), and the massive amount of charity projects you continuously make it rain on, I've wanted to hug your neck til your face turned as blue as your flaming helmets. Now, I wanna squeeze til your eyeballs pop out of your visors! This kind of thing, and awesome games of course, will keep me coming back to yall years after your departure from Halo. You're a credit to the industry. Keep it up. :)

It'll help the industry in general, with indie teams getting the resources they need to make the best games and get the most street cred they can, ideally ensuring bigger and better things out of those teams in the future.

Or if that doesn't matter to you, there's also the profits being split with Bungie, some of which will certainly go to investments in future Bungie games.

Win-win.

Agreed. Its an admirable notion to do this, but I don't have any interest in it and its a disappointing end to all the mystery and build up.

I just don't understand - why is it limited to only iPhone/Android games?
