Anybody want a peanut?

It's really awesome to see a company as famous and notable as Bungie supporting smaller developers to this degree. I know you'll probably make buckets o' bucks off this program, and even if it's just a PR move, it's a really, really, good one.

*Full Disclosure: I have an iPhone 4.

"won't be out until this summer"
I thought you guys were in Washington, it's pretty Summer up here in the US man. Maybe 'later this summer'?

Also, why do you get to use weird apostrophes that give me "The text contains extended characters that are not allowed." if I try to use your quotes lol. (won't had one)

It's interesting to see how the new games will be, but bungie will defiantly make a lot of cash from this.

  • 06.30.2011 9:00 AM PDT

I'm not entirely sure what Bungie Aerospace is. This is what I understand: Bungie Aerospace is like b.net but for other developers games, mainly small developers. Am I understanding this right? If this is true, then it's nice to see Bungie supporting people that are starting out.

Also, for those that are disappointed that Bungie Aerospace isn't a game, 2 things:

1. Remember, they are working on a game. They just have been very good at keeping every detail a secret, including the name. Eventually, details will be released.

2. Bungie Aerospace doesn't sound like a good name for a game. It always sounded like some sort of service, like a different type business venture besides an actual game. I guess you can classify this as hindsight but Bungie Aerospace never sounded like a game to me.

I'm probably twice your age, punk!

Oh, and say hi to your Mom.

Not what I was expecting. I think it's great that Bungie is helping give smaller organizations access to the masses, but I was hoping for some news on the next console game. I'm not that into playing games on a 4" screen.

  • 06.30.2011 9:01 AM PDT

So am I the only one excited by the idea that we might see some good new games in the App Store? Not just poor cut down versions of console games?

  • 06.30.2011 9:01 AM PDT

This will be perfect for me! I love mobile gaming as to the next guy but when Bungie steps in and starts creating games for our mobile enjoyment, it gets even better! The game that struck me the most was N.O.V.A. which is a game like Halo, but on the go! I hope that Bungie will topple all top mobile gaming competitors and be on top for the list of World Domination. Thank you Bungie for once again, making my day.

That's actually really cool that you guys are doing that! Can't wait to see what awesome stuff Aerospace brings us.

  • 06.30.2011 9:07 AM PDT

Ladies, ladies. Please read urk's entire post.

"Actually, we're completely committed to building our next big action universe (noses to the grindstone and all that). Bungie Aerospace allows us to partner with small teams and help THEM make their kick ass games while we stay laser focused on ours."

Though the post isn't introducing Bungie's next xbox game, it isn't as though they're saying that they're giving up on making console games and completely shifting focus to helping indie developers to make Angry Birds competitors. It sounds like they're doing both...

  • 06.30.2011 9:08 AM PDT

As good as this news is for new developers (and I respect Bungie's philanthropic work), I must admit that this is the single most disappointing piece of gaming news that I have read in quite a long time. Here's hoping that Bungie's going to surprise us on Bungie day and ALSO reveal a new IP. *fingers crossed*

I'm not that excited considering how I don't play mobile games. It's nice that Bungie will help out smaller games, but I still wish this was a new IP for them.

Why is everything becoming mobile now!!?!

Wow, it's absolutely nothing. Nobody gives a crap about mobile games. Honestly one of the most disappointing things I've heard this year.

This sounds great. Bungie is always the best helping out their community. I'm really excited for those iPhone games too, i've been getting bored of all my iPhone apps.

I'LL MAKE U MAKE YOU FAMOUS!

WTF... This sucks, all that super talent going to waste huh?
Man this is heart breaking i almost shed a tear, I might later on, as soon as this -blam!- sinks in.

Good by, it was nice doing business with u, but it looks like the awsome train stops here.

It looks like Microsoft really -blam!- you up Bungie? I was hoping for a multiplatform game that was going to take on the monster you created. (HALO)

Microsoft +1
Bungie -1

So them developing their own game, and also helping other people make games means they are going away? What?

I dont play games on 4" screens.

So play their game they're making for consoles then. I don't even have a 'smart' phone kind of device.

Sounds like it's going to be great. I can't wait to see how this turns out.

  • 06.30.2011 9:35 AM PDT

If you are not a Bungie fan. Fine. Enjoy your life. If you know anything about the company or even read the press release you know

1) Aerospace is sort of a separate company
2) It will not affect development of their new universe
3) This will be awesome

Aerospace was NEVER going to be the new game because it had Bungie in the title. A little common sense will get you that far.

  • 06.30.2011 9:39 AM PDT

Perfection!

This is very interesting, and shows just how generous and awesome Bungie is, not only with their community but other developers. The fact that they are reaching out to indie developers with this is very cool in my opinion.

I wish Bungie the best of luck in this endeavor.

Thats funny! But logical, I guess you have to ask your self if you want to take on: Angry Birds or Halo 4. I'm starting to wonder if Microsoft haz -blam!-edthem from creating a game that would compete with Halo 4.
