Subject: I am a little dissapointed

When i first heard about Aerospace i got really excited. I thought it would be some incredible Air/Space combat game, not a program to help create games... Anyone with me?

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

bungie has pretty much made it a trend to disappoint after halo 3, i don't see why anybody is surprised.

They could have specified that it was not a game without giving it away

Why? So more rumors could be spread about what it is?

Does it matter? There were going to be rumors about what it was regardless

I for one have yet to be disappointed by Bungie. And now that the are an indie company again, I'm even more excited about their upcoming IP. I actually read a thread on these forums a couple months ago that Aerospace was only going to be a sub-developer, or something of the sort. I kinda figured that the announcement would be like this.

If you would have read the BWU it stated that they would not announce a new game.

So what? Either way they're making new games. This tool will help Independent Developers make their own awesome games. Bungie is really reaching out to everyone and trying to make games better for everybody.

Hold it im not saying what their doing is bad

Mobile and Social games are usually garbage, the downfall of bungie started with the partnership of activision... it's only a matter of time until greed completely consumes them.

They are greedy to help small game designers get off the ground and providing the tools to help them. Yea really greedy bungie.

Whether their intentions are money or help, it will eventually consume them. Honestly, as disappointing as the news on Aerospace is, who is actually surprised? Bungie has bought the phrase "Too good to be true" and have bludgeoned it to death over the years. Be it with trailers, add-ons or vi-docs, they simply allow the community to wander freely in their imagination and then get smashed to bits when the real news comes out.

Mobile gaming? Pfft.

Pft, yeah I'm sure there going to "help" small game designers... I'm more picturing a huge conglomerate in which bungie/activision takes the majority of the profits. Don't be blinded by some fanboyish notions of a large game company's morality.

I'm afraid your Eclipse, Novas, and Forerunners mean nothing. If you don't have the skill to back up the rank, I'm afraid you don't deserve it.
Rank means nothing. Enjoy you credit hording.

It's really your fault for speculating it was a game. As kick-ass as it sounds, it's not a game. But it surely will produce some great quality games in the future. But now we wait... For a very long time.

When we joined The Covenant we took a oath; according to our station all without exception. On the blood of our fathers on the blood of our sons we swore to uphold that oath even to our dying breath.
Sovereign Guard

I don't see why this "Amazing News" couldn't wait a few more days.

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

If you don't expect anything from Bungie, you won't be disappointed.

I remember when I used to fall into the BS propaganda of Reach. How they said it was for the Fans, if you read the novels it was made for them. How large scale battles worked with huge sandboxes etc. How this was a character development intensive game. How being onyx meant you were the -blam!-. How competitive this game will be. How the Hardcore and the social players will be divided. How Tip of The Spear was the showcase battle of Reach in game. How Noble Team functioned as a Team and Spec-Ops Spartans. Instead the whole game was summed up like this.

"The covenant are on Reach, I repeat the covenant are on Reach"
Then I send my friend to see this in theatre. Oh wait...

-_-

Don't expect much from these guys, if at all, anything.

Didact's Reprisal -
Now is the time of our unworlding
One final effort is all that remains
And I am not afraid
We shall fulfill our promise
We fight for the grace of the Mantle
And this time none of you will be left behind

Bungie admitted to wanting to make money off this too. Doesn't mean they aren't lending a hand to a fellow company.

Bah, I shouldn't bother. Naysayers can never be shown evidence that Bungie isn't greedy and self-centered. Everything they do must surely have a diabolical ulterior motive.

Eh. Not really concerned, just hoping you see the error in your logic.

How I miss the Bungie of yore...

I'm curious, would this be Bungie of 2007 when folks complained at the same rate, Bungie of 2004 when folks made Halo2sucks.com because they hated the game so much (and thus were disappointed), or Bungie of 2001 when their original Mac fans declared heresy when Bungie signed up with *gasp!!* Microsoft? Or how about when they almost shipped out a game on the Mac that would've wiped out the hardrive of the computer when the game was uninstalled?

Are you claiming that people have never been disappointed with Bungie? That they never tried to make money? That fans never accused them of not caring?

Or are you saying all of these declarations have been untrue until this very moment?

I usually try to understand the perspectives of others, but history and experience has made me largely pessimistic. I guess I really mean to say is that I have a good bit of doubt about bungies intentions... I can't say anything for sure and it was wrong of me to do so.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Aerospace sounded like a very Valve-ish move to me and you don't hear them get called greedy very often. Seriously, the reaction most of you are having is ridiculous. Want to know why Bungie always disappoints? You overhype everything.

  • 06.30.2011 11:16 AM PDT

But you were dead a thousand times. Hopeless encounters successfully won. A man long dead, grafted to machines your builders did not understand. You follow the path, fitting into an infinite pattern. Yours to manipulate, to destroy and rebuild.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are destiny.

I'm excited, this makes more potentially awesome games available. It's not like they're going to be focusing all their efforts on Aerospace either, so there's no reason to worry about it.

  • 06.30.2011 11:19 AM PDT

Bungie Aerospace sounds better than if they had released a new game. Its just one step towards more games having the care and pride that all of Bungie's games do.
