bungie has pretty much made it a trend to disappoint after halo 3, i don't see why anybody is surprised.

Yup, giving independent developers a chance to market and sell their titles thus providing more talent for the industry as a whole, what disappointment.

Mobile and Social games are usually garbage, the downfall of bungie started with the partnership of activision... it's only a matter of time until greed completely consumes them.
They are greedy to help small game designers get off the ground and providing the tools to help them. Yea really greedy bungie.

Pft, yeah I'm sure there going to "help" small game designers... I'm more picturing a huge conglomerate in which bungie/activision takes the majority of the profits. Don't be blinded by some fanboyish notions of a large game company's morality.

Activision has nothing to do with Bungie Aerospace. Activision is simply the publisher for the single game IP that Bungie is working on currently working on, for a 10 year period. Activision has no other connections to Bungie aside from that.

DING DING DING, someone on the forums ate their wheaties this morning. Bungie and Activision are so far from being a partnership that Bungie even owns the rights to their new IP, the only thing Activision gets is the rights to publish it. And as for Bungie being money grubbing, false.

If they were money grubbing they would be publishing the new indie games themselves, instead they are just helping new studios get on their feet, and in return they get to make a little cash.

i keep it short and simple .... "typical bungie" they just keep messing with us

  • 06.30.2011 3:56 PM PDT

I've long supported Bungie, even inthe days when I worked Retail decades ago and Myth was being sold.

You could say I was pushing Bungie.

Since ODST, Halo Wars & Reach I've been steadily feeling less like following Bungie.

Aerospace for me is another corporate attempt to cash in a become a mini-activision in a space that activision won;t kick up a fuss.

Who cares, seriously, for indie mobile gamer developers there are heaps of free and open source toolkits, frameworks and portable engines to create your game with.

Just look at UDK, XNA, Adobe, Unity, iOS xCode and so many more paid frameworks beyond these it's not even funny.

Now start to think of how many financial grants/investors are out there world wide for the mobile games/apps development.

It's a cash grab, a market share steal and something to keep the masses at Bungie.

Good on Bungie, it's good for the mobile community. However, me as a Bungie/Halo fan it's not something I care about and I don't really play mobile games longer than a few seconds.

I hope they have more to impress and keep me around with their new universe. If the new game IP isn;t out of this world fantastic them I'm outta here and how do I close my B.net account?

How close have you been actually following Bungie? They didn't develop Halo Wars, and had little at all to do with that game.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

ODST was an expansion

Halowars was not done by bungie and a good game (better than reach)

Yes. It was.

Microsoft just wanted the cash. Bungie has publicly disagreed with the price, if that's what you're talking about.

I thought it was called Halo 3: ODST for a reason along with bungie saying it is an expansion.

a 2-3 hour campaign does not equal a game, blame microsoft for the price.

Grey, we already had this discussion. Like before, I'll say again...In a ViDoc they say that it was an expansion, but bloomed into a full game.

Somebody in this thread said the very same thing, you are the only person that comes to the forum somewhat that thinks this.

Again Halo 3:ODST

Link to the vidoc that say directly that is a game, because i can pull up several statements saying it is an expansion.

the "more" is firefight, that is probably why microsoft priced it at 60

I for one have yet to be disappointed by Bungie. And now that the are an indie company again, I'm even more excited about their upcoming IP.

I'll be more excited about their upcoming IP when they completely overhaul their networking and stop having black screens go on forever just to migrate hosts and allow mid-game drop-in, drop-out.

The game is still an expansion. Want to know why? The title alone has merit.

It's common custom to stick in the original title of the game, and tack in an add-on to show it's an expansion, different from the original title.

Examples:
Starcraft
Starcraft: Brood War

Company of Heroes
Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts
Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor

Halo 3
Halo 3: ODST

Grand Theft Auto IV
Grand Theft Auto IV: Ballad of -blam!- Tony
Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and the Damned

You see the pattern? ODST is an expansion regardless of Bungie claiming it as a full game (which it really isn't content-wise).

If you read my post you'd know I've been following Bungie since Myth days. Also Marathon and prior Halo.

Don't let me forum title distract you, I've been around for a long time and been banned recently.

Look I have utter respect for Bungie and the quality work they do but if I don't like their new IP then I'm not going to follow them for another 15+ years now am I?

I thought ODST's announcement got pushed back though thanks to Microsoft's marketing schedule.

Or are you referring to the appearance of the the very very first tidbit of teaser info involving the SI and nothing more past that?

Aerospace sounded like a very Valve-ish move to me and you don't hear them get called greedy very often. Seriously, the reaction most of you are having is ridiculous. Want to know why Bungie always disappoints? You overhype everything.

I completely agree. The whole purpose of Aerospace is to help the little guys out. I find that much more interesting than if it was a new IP because this way we get dozens of smaller IPs that can be just as exciting. If even one of these games gives us an interesting IP, than Aerospace was a success.
Halo games have always been victim to the Hype factor. Bungie shows us something cool, we start rampantly speculating and then cry foul when Bungie does not meet all of our demands. Reach was a good game because Bungie tried to fufil our wishes. Do you remember how many people asked for space combat? Remember how many of you asked for a game based on Reach?

I didn't really ask how long, but how closely, and I didn't say anything about wether you would follow them based on their new IP, so I'm not sure why you asked me that question. I was just pointing out that at least a part of your judgement against Bungie's performance lately was based on something Bungie had almost nothing to do with, that being Halo Wars which was developed by Enseble Studios and not Bungie. That's all.
