I'm just gonna say it now, ODST rocks, it is the most original Halo out there, so much so that I plan on buying it again! I'm gonna give a few reasons why ODST is fantastic :)
1. The Cast.
Adam Baldwin, Nathan Fillion, Tricia Helfer and the pirate from Dodgeball, quite a team right? But without doubt one of the strongest ensemble casts I've seen in a videogame in years!
But it goes without saying that Nathan Fillion knocks the ball out of the park, whoever wrote his dialogue deserves a medal and Nathan does that person justice by delivering those lines with such feverish enthusiasm.
2. It's bold and new.
Undoubtedly one of the greatest risks that Bungie has undertaken over the past few years was taking away control of a 7ft tall tank and instead placing you in the shoes of a narcoleptic ODST trooper.
Placing the player in the Covenant infested streets of New Mombassa dose'nt exactly stir up feelings of comfort either, the true originality lies within the grounded noir soundtrack complete with jazz riffs, and being teleported to the shoes of your fellow squadmates hours beforehand shapes the narrative in an inventive manner!
3. Firefight.
Firefight in ODST was a resounding success, unlike Reach's FF which was more about getting down to some nitty-gritty slaughtering, ODST's was more about finding a secure location and trying to survive, weapons were scarce and there were no ammo refills you could walk up to like in Reach.
The maps were varied and fun and each character had there great dialogue, FF's use of skulls was also very smart adding a layer of difficulty missing from GOW Horde.
Phew, jam-packed right? Agree? Disagree? Sound off below and let me know what you love (or don't) about ODST!!
