Eric Nylund isn't the only one who can write Halo novels guys, can we get over that already? I don't even know if Blue Team is going to be in this book.

...It was stated it's following up on the characters and events from Ghosts of Oynx. How would it NOT have Blue Team in the book?

It says that, but then Frankie says it's about new characters, new worlds, and pretty much everything is new. I'll retract that "Blue Team statement", but the info provided seemed oddly constructed.

My Nylund statement stands though.

Judging by the other authors' material the books that came after Nylund were pretty terrible with the exceptions of Bear's Cryptum and the Evolution set.

So basically, The Flood, Cole Protocol, and Contact Harvest mean we should just stick with Nylund?

Oh yeah It's Rayzed.

I've heard alot of Star Wars fans don't really like her books. I've never heard complaints from Gears of Wars fans though. Can't wait to get a look at whats next book-wise though. This shouldn't be in Bungie Universe however. This is clearly a 343i project.

Star Wars fans like her books, how else would she make a series? But a lot of fans get butthurt when she answers some question though. But how would you react when you have fanboys saying your interpretation of Manolorians were wrong because they don't match a rejected Empire Strikes Back script?

Another unfortunate side effect of movies>all: that correlates to rejected scripts as well :/

Though I've never heard a single Star Wars fan say her Republic Commando books suck. In fact, I've never heard anyone say anything hers sucks (except for Halo fans who like action more then plot, regarding Human Weakness).

Personally, I think this book will be actually good since she wrote Gears of War, Halo: Evolution part on Human weakness and some Star Wars which it is good book, by the way.

And, yes it will explain what happened to Blue Team with Dr. Halsey, SPARTAN-IIIs and SPCO Mendez in Onyx, and possibly detailing about their escape from Dyson Sphere world (I might be wrong, someone can correct me, although) among new characters/villains were revealed.

My theory: Based on cover art, it seems that Humans may once fight against Elites again as they never forgotten that Elites were once contributors to human genocide in Human-Covenant War or alliance to work together to defeat ancient enemy such as Flood or Precursors or maybe Forerunners.

I think the cover of the books makes Humans and Elites looks like frenemies still. I don't expect it all to be "peace and love" but I really don't think either side is going to want to start a new war with the other. The way the two are posed it doesn't look confrontational at all, to me it looks like kinda like they're walking toward something together and talking as they go :/ Or something like that, it doesn't really look all that hostile.

Karan Travis said herself in an interview that Glasslands is not a direct sequel to Ghosts of Onyx, yet in this Waypoint article, we have a conflicting statement, saying that it "will follow-up the events and characters from Halo: Ghosts of Onyx in the wake of the final events of Halo 3."

Uh, what does THAT mean, exactly? To me, it sounds like Blue team and Halsey might be MENTIONED...but the book isn't ABOUT them.

I agree with pretty much all you said. I definitely think that Humanity and Elites will still be allies, but there will definitely be some sort of tension, from both sides probably. There will be a return to some glassed planet obviously...for what purpose remains unknown for now, maybe for the same reason that team returned to the glassed planet in the Return, maybe that's the Shipmaster from the Return on the cover of Glasslands :/ I can't wait to read the book in any case.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

I think this will relate to the forenner "object" that was found in the return

I personally think its mad that the story arc of the Halo universe gets passed from one author to the next, they add their part and then hand it on. This is the reason why Halo lore has become patchy and inconsistent.

I thought the pictures of the Forerunner thing in the Return were pictures taken of the Portal...>_>

"Find where the liar hides, so that I may place my boot between his gums!" - Rtas 'Vadum

It looks like Humanity are being submissive to the Elites. The ODST is slumped a bit and facing away from the Elite. It sort of suggests submissiveness. The Elite is dominant, standing tall and face on at the ODST, clearly an assertive posture. Although to be honest it is difficult to make out anything about the Elite other than his head. The perspective is confusing. (Is that a shoulder or what?)

I don't think that this is any sort of war though. They don't appear hostile to each other and in an offensive posture, like the front of the Helljumper comic.

ODST: "There used to be grass here."

Elite: "Ya, sorry about that."

LOL

^^Agreed. :)

Anyway, on-topic, this sounds pretty cool. I've always wondered what happens to the Humans and Elites after teh warz.
