Dear Bungie:

Take Two is just sitting on the rights to THE best real time tactical game franchise ever made, with no plans to do anything with it.

Meanwhile the market for RTTs grows and grows, and the best game in the genre, the Total War series, is frankly an amateur effort that should not even be used in the same sentence as Myth.

For the love of god, buy back your rightful game, fulfil the potential of the engine, make an obscene profit, and advance your plans for world domination while I satiate my desire for quality real time strategy without real time resource hoarding at the expense of my job and family!

Sincerely,
Your fan since Pathways

For Carnage Apply Within - Fatum Iustum Stultorum

"Do not mistake your rank and number for superiority. The oldest child may learn from the youngest."

Advancement isn't achieved by reliving the past.
Let's keep the beating a dead horse analogy to the Halo series, shall we?

Wait... you're a member of "For Carnage Apply Within," but you don't think Myth should be remade? ::head explodes::

  • 06.30.2011 4:58 PM PDT

No. Bad idea. The whole idea of remaking classics has always been pretty lame to me.

  • 06.30.2011 5:04 PM PDT

OMG, you have an icon of a beserk but you also do not agree Myth should be reincarnated!?!? Am I in some sort of twilight zone?

What about it strikes you as a bad idea? Since Bungie sold the series there has been no game to step in and fill this niche.

We fight for that which is lost in the hope that what is lost can be found.

I'd go for a reamake of Marathon

  • 07.01.2011 12:54 AM PDT

well yeah ofc they should make a new Marathon too, duh!! but we gotta start somewhere, and shooters are a dime a dozen. Myth has no competition.

I love chips!

yes but not on consoles

I don't mind updates for game, but a full fledged remake isn't always the best choice in my opinion.

Hi res graphics, bug fixes, maybe minor additional content. Yeah.
It really has to be one hell of a game for it to be remade IMO.
I still wouldn't buy it. I don't play/I suck at RTT.

I would buy a remade Marathon though :)

Can we just keep this on topic about Myth and keep the Marathon jibber jabber to threads about Marathon?

And yes, Myth 2 remake would be like Christmas times a thousand, but only better.

And just in case you didn't know, you can still play the game here: http://www.mariusnet.com/

Yes, there're too many numbers in my name.

Who wouldn't want to see a modernized Myth?

  • 07.01.2011 6:11 AM PDT

ix forte xi,

yeah i totally agree it does have to be one helluva game to be remade, and Myth was that good. a little known fact is that Myth already has many more features than current games in the genre have... and the game was made 13 years ago.

besides just cause remade shooters by other companies have sucked doesn't mean they didn't turn a profit, or that Bungie couldn't do it better.

one of the reasons those remade shooters sucked is because there is a lot more competition these days. for the Myth genre that isn't really the case.

Bug fixes have progressed on the engine for 10 years by volunteers as a hobby, so the game is already pretty bug free. if graphics could be improved without making too many new bugs then i don't see how it couldn't be a winner!

i think if they should remake it , i would definately buy it, but i would hope it would have similar/the same unit control as myth 2 (and not m3 or tfl)

The post is on topic for the most part. I stated my reasoning for remaking a new game, and i stated suck/dislike RTT, so i wouldnt remake it or buy it. There is nothing wrong with adding a little more depth/discussion to a thread.

I don't think the point of remaking older games is to compete with newer games. Its to show the game how developers want it, with new updated graphics, gameplay, etc.
Your entitled to your own opinion, so if you think that Myth was that good of a game, cool! I personally don't find it as such (partly because i dislike RTT), so i answered the OP's question. No i wouldn't.

well it's official: over 80% of people on the internet would buy Myth if Bungie remade it. ok Bungie you know what to do!!

  • 07.02.2011 2:06 PM PDT

seriously though, isn't Bungie about to introduce some new games they have been working on? I hope one of them is an RTT. I wonder if they are aware that the field of RTT games is rather small and lacks a quality (over quantity) staple title.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Maybe. Probably not.
